I'm looking for a 1/2" shank, carbide, spiral, double bearing, flush trim router bit with
a 2 1/2" (or more) cut length.

All I can seem to find is 2" cut length or less unless I drop the "spiral" from my search.

Anyone know where a god-like router bit like this could be found? I must be looking in all the wrong places.

Spiral bits get kinda weak over 2" in length and are prone to snapping in half during a cut.....That's why they go straight flute form there to 3"

The only way to get one of those would be to contact a tool grinding place and see if they could make you one. I talked to an end mill manufacturing place near me once and the numbers for custom bits is pretty high. Something like what you want probably starts at around $300, if they even agree to do it, but there may be places significantly cheaper, I just don't know.

Slow down Chris, take your time. You are already too fast building these things! :naughty:

Seriously though, why do you need more than 2"? I'm always looking for longer end mills for CNC but that's so I can cut deeper cavities, like down to the maple in the control cavity, or even a 3/8" dia bit to go deep enough to do the long legs for pup routes and neck pockets.

Cheers Peter.

PS - I just bought a 2" doc solid carbide spiral flush trim with double bearings. The only reason I wanted that long was so I didn't have to change the bit to a pattern bit.

I know this much, I stopped paying attention after I fought off the urge to respond with;
"Your mom". I'm maturing, in case you haven't noticed.

What are you takin about? I finished the build part of my 22 Magnum two weeks ago and I havent started a new build yet. How long do you expect me to wait? ;)

I dont have a specific need for the bit. Just thought it would be nice to have :)

Dont mature too much. You'll be no fun at all :shock:

The day will never come where a well placed "Your mom" cant lighten the load. :D

I've been looking at larger spiral cut pattern bits for a while figuring out what I'm going to move to and I have not seen what you're describing with more than a 2" cutting length.

I've been looking at potentially moving to a shaper for this reason, as there are a lot of cutters available for these that would likely suit what you're looking for.
