Here is my 99. I tired to capture what is going on, but I didn't do the best job. The back of the neck and back edges are lightening up nicely and looks more dramatic in person. When I have someone look at the guitar, this is usually the first thing commented on. It's also getting to the wood on the valleys, but nice and smooth, while it's just starting to happen on the back of the neck. I know it's my guitar, but I think it looks killer...and all earned. I included a pic of one of my buddies.

I've seen this on many guitars.

I gig with my 99 R7 quite a bit, but the only real aging so far is the nickel hardware. I did put a small dent in the neck from hitting a cymbal.

I understand what your are saying but the comparison here is apples/oranges. From the looks of it the Standard is a first gen Raw Power, correct? The finish on those is extremely thin and was supposed to be. That's why it aged much quicker than the reissue. I don't know how many coats of nitro the reissues have but I do know it's way more than the Raw Power's were given. Therefore it will take a ton more playing to get it where you want it.:fingersx:

There were some pictures I remember seeing here of a 4 year old RO that was owned by a gigging muso and guitar teacher. If I recall it was a present from his wife/girlfriend. That thing looked like a real 1960 after just 4 years of daily use and 40 hour weeks. How much time have you got to put into it?

I think you may be referring to the following (WARNING: the link below is to the other forum)

Hand it over to Angus Young, but don't let him keep it for too long.
