(this thread?)

I have a bad habit of skipping posts.
it's bitten me in the ass on more than one occassion.:laugh2:

but I was referring more to the guy in your avatar, anyways.
we all wore the same outfit back when.
nothing wrong with it.
black is a good look for most folks.

Ah. Yeah, the guy in my avatar photo isn't me. I thought you were making a comment on how I dress. :)

I would agree that scene as a whole is a parody of itself.

But there are still some who pull it off:

Seeing these guys perform isn't a show, it's a spiritual experience. The blood and animal parts are real, they bring the essence of death to the stage. The lyrics aren't just fodder written for shock value, but hymns rooted in spiritual and philosophical belief. Not for everybody, I expect to catch some flak ;) I was actually in attendance on this night, hands down the best concert of my life.

Band?

In 1962, I was playing with sparklers (age 7, turned 8 in the hospital) and wearing a shirt made of some "miracle fabric." That means the fabric was some kind of molecular cousin to gasoline.

Long story short, shirt caught fire, stop, drop and roll didn't do shit and the fire was put out by my older sister, who tackled me and wrapped me in a rug. Three months, two skin graft surgeries, a case of the mumps (caught in the hospital) and nine months of rehab later, I was scarred for life, with a chest looking like a relief map, stripes of scar tissue on my thighs, a burned-off tit and a firm belief fireworks should not be sold to the general public and children should be kept far, far away from them.

You know what's odd? I never had a woman say "eww, I'm leaving, I'm not pressing my body against THAT!"
geez, man, that's rough.
my eldest nephew has had grafts all over his body (and I mean everywhere) after pulling a boiling kettle onto himself as a toddler.
it's a tough gig.

I'm not trolling - I hate Jimi Hendrix. You're proving my point.

you my friend are an ASSHOLE!! If you have nothing positive to say then shut the **** up you ****ing jerk! Looking good on stage does not mean you cant play, it means you are an entertainer and not just walking off the street. People pay to see my band and I give them my best EVERY time. I dont want to look like the guy at the bar drinking before I go on. I dont wear make up or spandex, but I want to look like the band, nothing wrong with that..... and I can play and sing enough to back it up you weak little ****

Thank you for going someplace I'm afraid to, because people here are the worst snitches of any forum I've ever been banned from. Keep in mind, the person you're berating is probably very young and it takes time for people to grow thick skin.

WAAAAAAA, you said something bad/mean/againstchildren/againstshredding/whatthefvckever!!!!! I'm going to TELL. Yes, I am, I'm going to TELL on you because you said something I don't like in a way I don't like, so I'm telling and the Mobster will BAN you because you said something I'm ALL BUTTHURT about!!!

Jesus christ, if you don't like someone, put 'em on ignore, but this tattling to the mods because you're butthurt is as bad as netKKKopping was in the days of Usenet. You people know who you are.

I miss Usenet. The wild west. Only place I can find like that is this one. People who are easily butthurt don't last long here.

fwiw, I'm not a Jimi fan either.
I respect his talent, ability, and influence, of course.
and I like a few tunes.

but I'd rather listen to Motorhead.

*shrug*

just how it is...

Nuthin' wrong with that, you likes what you likes. I'd rather listen to Delbert, Lee Roy, Jimmy Hall and any number of others than either of the aforementioned. <shrug /> :D

I dress in my nicest clothes, but nothing extravagant. I make a lot of faces and move a lot when I play naturally, so I guess that kinda takes care of the "show" for me.

I just try to dress like a slightly better version of me.
If I was to put on something trendy or whatever, I would just feel lame. Levi's, a flannel and a t-shirt. And now that I've grown my hair back out a bit..... Combed hair.

I used to play in a wedding/corporate party band. We all wore tuxes.
I'd always show up to load in wearing the worst ripped up clothes I had.
When we played really nice hotels/country clubs etc., it wasn't unusual to have security come up to me and say something like, "Excuse me sir, can we help you find something?"
Then I'd tell 'em I was with the band - but they always kept an eye on me 'til I got dressed up.:D

I fvcking hate tuxes - suits too.
