Yup

On the LP
Use them alot.

Both actually..neck and bridge but mostly bridge.

The amp is EQ'd for the neck position.
A little trick I learned from this very forum.....:thumb:

Which means the bridge can get "ice pick in the ear" tone if I don't handle it from my end. Both volume and tone get backed off...how much is dependant on the room, etc.

But work it that way and you can get some heavenly tones from all three switch positions.

And I back the neck off occasionally for that Clapton "Weeping Woman" tone. Otherwise it stays around 8-9.

I don't mess with them alot during the song but sometimes they need tweeking if I'm not happy about something.
(Watch Gary Moore. It's insane how often he goes to the controls. No knock on Gary and he gets some pretty sweet tones but....sheesh:hmm:)

As for my Strat...I have the bridge postion tone backed off for sure. But I have the volume cranked. I want the power of that sweet Strat tone but I don't want it to hurt....:laugh2:.

Positions 2 and 5 are...IMO. the sweetest tones you can get from a Strat but sometimes you need that funky tone (almost exclusivly pumping out rhythms ) that I can only get from the bridge.

Anyway...JMHO.

Depends on what I'm playing and on what guitar.

I used to ignore it all the time, then I started using it and noticed in some guitars there was almost no difference between the tone knob at 10 or 4, the difference started at 3 (almost no highs).

Some guitars have very useful tone knobs though.

I barely touched them for years. Then I wired my LP 50's style. Now my tone controls actually do something. Still don't use use the bridge tone much, but love all the different tones from the neck.

I use the tone knob constantly, except on my Charvel Model 2. It doesn't have one.

I tend to use the tone control knobs more on a Strat; most Les Pauls I have owned sounded good with the tone knobs dimed but you can unlock alot more tones on a Strat.

I use my tone knobs alot, and swap out my capacitor values to suit my tastes occasionally. I especially like to wire up les pauls with 50s style wiring, and I feel I get way better response from my vol and tone knobs.

Most of my gits have p90s, which are really responsive to tone knobs, too...

I do use my tone knobs. I'll back off on the bridge pup from time to time, particularly with my Strats as they can be a bit bright. But then sometimes it's wide open. At any rate, I do use them.

When I play through my Laney Lionheart, I have my tone at 10. It tends to be a pretty dark sounding amp. When I play through my Fender Blues Jr, I roll it off to 6-7 on the neck, maybe less on the bridge.
