Do you play your Les Paul unplugged as much as plugged into an amp?

i record a lot late at night when the family is in bed, so technically I am unplugged. Record in GarageBand and use various amp simulators. Otherwise, I am plugged into my amp for practicing, writing, and trying to work out new tones and sounds.

I do a LOT of unplugged playing.....mainly as you have no amp to hide behind technically. There's nothing like learning nuance when you only have the string noise to guide you.

I play almost always with the guitar plugged into my usb interface, running GR5 on my desktop and for the sake of the people around me, I use headphones

Mostly plugged in - my music room is 2 floors below ground level :D

The only time I play un-plugged is when i take one outside to play on nice days.

it all depends. If I have 5 or 10 minutes to spare, I'll go unplugged. 20 to 30 minutes, I'll use my ME-80 or Pocket Pod. More time, then I plug in. Thinking about it number wise, it's probably split equally. Time wise, it's plugged in.

I was practicing 20 years almost 90% unplugged (it wasn't LP, but another sollid body guitar - a Bulgarian Orpheus for the record). Since I play more seriously, let say since 1 year, it is 100% connected to my V-Amp 3.

Unplugged more. I play in front of the TV every night sitting around with the family. I use a VOX in one ear so I can hear everything around me and still hear the guitar.

I'd say probably 80% unplugged/20% plugged.

I'm pretty busy with work and whatever goes along with daily life but I make the conscious effort to pick up my Lester for at least 10-15 minutes everyday just to keep the calluses alive and to relax at the end of the day by strumming a bit unplugged.

When I feel motivated, I'll learn something and when I do that, I also play unplugged. When I feel comfortable with what I've learned, I'll plug into a small Peavey modeling combo in my bedroom and practice it a bit on low volume when I have time.

On weekends, when I have time (usually once a week, or once every other week), I plug into the Plexi in my basement and jam out when I just feel like "performing". :D

Playing unplugged so often definitely preserves the novelty of how great the Les Paul sounds when I finally get a chance to plug it in!

96% plugged in. Only time it's not is when watching movies / TV and then I'm just doing finger exercises.
Picking patterns, chromatic crap, just stupid simple stuff but esp the picking aspects like triplets and down picking for endurance helps

Not even close. I played my first one maybe 20% of the time unplugged. Maybe cause my first amp was not very good at all. Now I don't play any of my electrics unplugged much at all. :D

I play unplugged at least as much as plugged in.

If I'm serious about doing something, I'll plug in, but sometimes I'll just grab one and go upstairs with it to watch TV or sit with my kids while they're playing, etc.

Pretty much never. I made a conscious decision no to about a decade ago when I realized that playing too much unplugged was having a negative effect on my technique. I had started picking much too hard and was losing some of the nuance of my vibrato technique. Only plugged in from there on out - if I need to keep it quiet I play through headphones.

I play my Casino unplugged a lot. (Actually I think it's why it was so popular with the Beatles) Or semi-hollows. Occasionally my Strat. My Custom not so much.

But I use modelers a lot so it's easy to hook up to an ipad or pedal with headphones. So I guess maybe 25% of the time unplugged. The Custom almost always plugged in.

This is exactly what I do, even down to GarageBand. :thumb:

I play my ES 137 unplugged probably more than I do plugged in. If I just want to noodle the guitar is almost acoustic loud by itself so its great for that.
