Do you believe in owning a Second "Beater" Guitar?

I was just pointing out your unnecessarily snarky reply to someone that was making a simple generalization.

Yes all those different factors do make a difference but inferring that you can apply them all individually as correction factors and arrive at a better valuation than someone else is pointless.

You could have just said that the market sets price per individual guitar independently of a broad definition of inflation. Instead you're trying to provoke and belittle someone else over their obviously non-combative post.

Yes I do believe in a beater and yes I also that most of us kind a feel like our instruments have a type of soul and we
tend to refer to them as something more than a hunk of lumber ,about the beater issue this is just plain ol' common sense
you would'nt that you collectors piece to gig ,as I've been preaching thats why thro bak and others make different pickups I once saw a VERY populat artist at a concert playing a tokai that sounded just like his 59 LP thank you pickup companies I love my originals but would a lot more frugal to go the other way no worry !!!

Yes. I also believe you should own the nicest guitar you can afford. And everything in between. 55 years of guitar ownership have taught me that you should find a guitar (or two, or three), that you find makes you play for hours....And keep it. It can be a cheap Squier or a $5k Lester. It does not matter as long as that instrument inspires. If it gets dinged and scratched up, big deal. Play it.

I agree with bobsessed If something makes me buy it, I play it If I don't end up playing it. It will end up being sold or possibly gifted.
And a beater? I beat em all

I can't speak for anyone else, but when I say play "the hell" out of something it doesn't mean beat on it or abuse it, it just means play the damn thing and enjoy it without worrying about normal wear and tear.
It was totally obvious what you meant and a little ridiculous to make a point of it.

I just recently bought a new LP Classic to use as my beater as I don’t want to use my 2 Tokai Love Rocks unless it’s for gigs or recording

Talking about a Naked Priestess.
Back when I was in my prime I had em following me out of nearly every gig.

Ahh...gotcha! They have the potential to be everywhere! Getting them to appear all depends on yer playing or demeanour! ;)

Depends where he lives. There's a LOT of stuff not for sale in Canada, or at least, people wont ship here.
SE Idaho, currently. For reasons completely beyond my control. Which probably explains it. They've probably all been converted to Mormonism and married off to this one guy..
If you can't find one of those, Your doing it wrong.
Maybe I just need a bigger amp. One they can hear across the state line.

I'm dumb...I thought it referred to this...which is actually a Goddess...

I have seen over the years a few comments that add up to, 'I can't play a chick guitar, that's gay. I play a man guitar.'
Ironic, given that the first 3 dozen images if you search "girl with les paul" are women playing mostly sunburst standard types or or black or white customs. The Goddess comes in at number 37..

Well my Angus Young SG would be perfect for a woman with small hands. I have small hands and it's too small for me.

I play the hell out of all my axes, but I don't believe in "beaters" I believe in at least 4 or 5 top notch high quality players strung with different gauges and pickups and rotating between them all on a nightly basis. Adapting to the changes in each axe every few nights is unmatched in making you the Rock god others only dream about.

I rotate round the following, it covers slim & fat necks, vintage & tall frets, wide & thin fingerboards, various pickup types and various scale lengths.

Strat, Gibson LP P90s, Epi LP Standard, Gibson SG, Tele and Jaguar. I wouldn't say I treat any of them as a 'beater' guitar because even the Epi and (JV Squier) Strat have sentimental value as I've owned them for 25 and 38 years respectively.

I'm not a Rock god yet though, but after nearly 50 years playing I guess if I was going to be, I would be by now. :D It does help with stiff, aching hands though to change around.

The only guitar I don't play out (yet) is my Gibson LP Junior. I haven't decided if I'm going to keep it, so I'm just playing it at home until I decide either way, so it'll look it's best if I do sell it.
