Do you, and how blatant, lie to your wife about the guitars?

Hey guys, I'll probably be looking to sell five or six killer guitars within the next week or two, so keep an eye out in the classified section for more info.

I figured I'd give you all heads up now so you can start thinking up just the right story (or lack thereof) to tell your significant other.

Not about guitars , Ive been lucky most of my Guitars have been gifts from Freinds, Guitars that I would never have bought because of the $$$$ (There Rich im Poor).I have fibbed about recording equipment , When she has noticed ,Other wise I would just install it , most the time she never noticed cause she really has no iterest in recording . and really the only time she set foot in the Studio (Xtra Bedroom) was to call me for dinner. As long as I dont move a marshall stack in she wont notice the other elephants in the room.

gotta love those downloaded waves bundles at 2000 bucks a pop!

Oh sure... selling when I'm about to be laid off in a week... I see how it is
Actually, I may have another job lined up to start later in April... so I'm already thinking of ways to convince the wife (once the new gig kicks in of course) that another GAS purchase is no big deal :naughty:

My wife understands the value of a thing that appreciates, or just has inherent value to others.

My Les Pauls dont depreciate. The other gear (straps, cables, etc, she has a harder time with.)

But my advice for Les Pauls is... be open about the price, just be prepared to show how much money you saved. I just bought a used Les Paul Special on a whim. But I only paid about $450US for it. At another shop you could pay twice that. She knows that, and I havent heard a peep.

My Playstation 3 habit though... thats harder. She never ever plays it, and knows (from my Playstation 2 ownership) that any money I spend on the PS... isnt coming back ever.

I must be fortunate. Mine gets pissed off when I SELL guitars.

I console her by telling her it's ok, its just a guitar......she never seems to forgive me though.

+1 I just sold my Classic Antique to pay off the taxman. She didn't want me to. When I sold a Standard last year, she threatened to buy me a new one. I'm now "Paul-less" until I've saved enough for another. She'll be happy.

Mike,

That's great to hear that you may have another job lined up...good luck, and keep us posted! BTW, will we still see you at Jimmy's next month?

Thanks... yes, it is a real relief that things look like they are lining up job wise. I should know next week and will keep ya posted... thanks everone for the prayers. As for the jam in NC, playing that by ear based on job prospects, etc. It will probably be a last minute decision the week of the jam... but I really hope I can make it - would be a nice "take your mind off of..." weekend after the last month I've had.
