I used to collect DVDs. I've got thousands in storage, but I want to start selling them off because I never watch them anymore. I used to buy/sell them all the time on ebay, but that was years ago. Has anyone sold DVDs lately? Can you still get at least a couple bucks for each?

Judging by pawn shops and stuff they seem to be basically worthless now,..from what I've seen.

Maybe a buck each?

You might have better luck selling in lots. I'm considering doing that for my DVD's and CD's. Ebay is definitely better than Amazon. Stuff is listed for literally $0.01 on there and then Amazon takes most of the shipping. :laugh2:

Maybe group all the horror ones together (for example) and list them that way. At least it will be less work listing them that way. Maybe. :dunno:

The Playboy collection is probably worth something, now that they are a non-nude publication.

most companies that sell cd's or dvd's on ebay are more successful when they list them at one cent with no reserve. otherwise the never sell.

The only place I see them selling is at Yard Sales and they usually go for no more than $2.00 each. Physical media is out everything is on the cloud or a file on a huge HDD.

I dumped my nearly 1500 CD collection around 2006 on eBay and I got lucky and sold $15,000.00 worth of CD's for $2000.00 and I was ecstatic to get that...

I still collect Vinyl and the resurgence has caused the price of albums to go way up again. I'm really glad Vinyl was dead in 2006 when I was going to dump it too...I still have around 1000 albums and over 5000 45's that I still listen to.

But my entire music collection and video collection has been transferred to digital on about 4TB of HDD space and then backed up just so I don't lose it to some disaster...

There are usually some record/video stores that will give you store credit or cash for them. Might be a better option for you.

While I was going to school in Berkeley there was Rasputin's Records.

Now in the Sac Valley there are Dimple Records. Check around your area for a business like these.

Just a follow up.

I was browsing down memory lane and the Rasputin site and they will even pay for shipping, if you have more than 60 items.

You don't have to go to them but I'm guessing there's similar offers out there near you.

Here's a link to their site, just so you get an idea of what is available.

This looks interesting. Considering the sheer volume I want to unload, I may go this route. I could break my collection up in groups of 60 and then take advantage of their free shipping. Every week or so I could send a box out.

Dude I'm not sure you could give them away. No offense. But I can't really remember the last time someone bought me a DVD. It was probably 4-5 years ago. The last time I bought any myself, I had just moved and was waiting for my cable and internet to get installed.

Just looking on the net at Birmingham, there looks like there might be a couple of shops out that way that do it too.

Man things are changing fast, going to the video store to look thru the previous rentals now on sale bin used to be a regular thing. I did it with VHS and then DVD's...doesn't seem that long ago. I have a beautiful Sony Vega tube T.V, weighs a ton...is garbage now but too heavy to throw out.

A 1000 DVD's though! holy hell. I bought TWDead season 5 a couple months ago for 20 bucks new. Some people are still buying a bit. I basically watch movies on Youtube now.

Yeah, at least 2,000 and many of those are box sets/TV seasons, so I probably have closer to 10,000 discs. I watch Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Youtube primarily now. I'd love to hang on to the DVDs, but I can't justify the sheer bulk of the collection. It simply takes up way too much room for something I won't use very much.

Not true. I sell them all the time for between $3-$5 shipped. I list them for about 2 weeks, then I take em to the local record stores and trade off/sell the ones I don't need or want or won't sell, for store credit or cash.
