Let's just say that hypothethically intelligent people earn more money than less intelligent ones. Alcohol is a taxed consumer good. If you plan to drink alcohol, then you better have the wherewithal to buy it. This is my inference, not based directly on causality. If you change the rules of the study, and provide the subjects with free booze, then it's likely that stupid people would consume more. Imho.
