I'm in the market for a Les Paul Custom 57 Reissue Black Beauty and was wondering how the neck profile and frets compare to the newer Les Paul 50s Standards? I have a 2021 Les Paul Standard as a basis of comparison. I'm drawn to the 57 Reissue in particular because its supposed to have a large neck like the 50s Standards. Is this true? Are they C or D shapes?

There is also a 2012 Custom 57 Reissue I may be interested in, but I hear this is the year that richlite fretboards started to begin?

I’ve only owned older ‘57 RI Black Beauty’s and necks on these guitars (1997- early 2000’s) were similar in size to my 2021 Standard ‘50s.

I’m not familiar with newer ‘57 RI Custom’s, but I recently sold my 2016 R7 Goldtop and kept my Standard “50s because the neck on the ‘16 R7 was smaller and more tapered at the edges than my Standard 50’s.

The 2016 R7’s neck wasn’t the same as other older R7’s and R8’s that I’ve owned. I prefer big chunky necks and that’s why I’ve owned R7’s and R8’s.
