Looking at a 79 that is “all original “ according to a dealer that is reputable as far as I know. I thought customs had gold and black?

At least the Silverburst Customs had chrome hardware. Never seen one that had factory cream plastics or another finish color with chrome (that I know of). Def people here more knowledgeable than I

It’s a sunburst. Or clownburst.

My 1978 sunburst Custom left the factory with chrome hardware.

Cream plastics?....I don’t think so.

If you Google "1979 Les Paul Custom", literally none of the images show white plastics, so I would bet they were swapped out at some point.

I agree, the cream plastics could have been original to that era, but unless it was a special order, it didn't leave the factory with them. Also, I don't think the pickguard is a factory Gibson pick card from that era either.

That being said, it was an extremely popular mod in the 70s. Frampton and Frehley both come to mind.

If you like the guitar it certainly isn't a deal-breaker at the price although I would try to get them to knock $100-$150 off if you plan on replacing any of the hardware.
