Did they ever do a 1955 Custom reissue or just the 54. This will be my next guitar so doing some research. I know either is rare to see often but if any members have one please post some pics. I have a p90/staple need that must be filled.
Also does anything look funky on this guitar in the link other than seller calling it a 57? The headstock diamond inlay looks a little off and crooked?

50% Positive Feedback...................ouch!

They did a few '55 Customs in the Hot Mod Series.

They did make a 1955 Custom reissue, as well as the 54 as you're already aware.

Yeah, that guy is off with his description on the eBay link. The 4 in the first of the serial means it's a 54 RI, the 7 means it's either a 1997 or 2007. Most likely a 1997 judging by the logo on the case.

I think the headstock logo is fine, it's just his pictures suck. :laugh2:

Cool guys thanks that's what I was hoping to hear. That's my next guitar although I think the right one is going to be hard to find. I'd love a 2007 in mint condition. Not too worried about the eBay guy if I pursue it as its local pick up only

Also would there be any difference between a 54 and 55 other than just saying its that particular year?

Not to my knowledge, no. Its just a year designation...I had a 54 Custom RI, and then I played a 55 Custom RI a few months later and there were no differences other than My 54 had a Square "D" shaped neck and sounded thuddy or dark. It had a solid one piece Mahogany body. The 55 was lighter with a different feeling neck.... It may have had a maple cap, but I didn't investigate that far.

You can tell a solid Mahogany body because the pickup wire rout is round and not square....(its actually a long drill hole. where the maple capped one is a square route with the roof being the maple cap

The '55 Hot Mod had a slight V Neck that many here really like. Also has the Tone Pros long Steel steel anchors & long locking Studs.

It appears as though this '55 run had some great Guitars in it.
