whoa.all stop. I heard Dan play through this with dicky(if he was playing it in '77 and after).seems to me.great southern.they annihilated the place(El Mocambo,Toronto.).utter destruction/ long, long jams.

but do i remember this particular guit? of course not!!(it was a goldtop, i hear?) i was way too bombed...roflmao...but it was a memorable gig where i was a spectator.top 5.

that is a beautiful Les Paul.

i met both fine gents in the hallway.we chatted a bit.guitar stuff.

Tricky guitar.
On one hand, a bad 70s bursted, broken headstocked gold top.
On the other hand, it's an ABB guitar.
On the other hand, it's Dan Toler, not DB, or DA.
On the other hand, alot of provenance.

How many hands do I have?

Depends how deep your pocket is. We can have you swinging six arms in no time.

It was Dickey's guitar for many years, he gave it to Dan when Dan and Dickey were in the Allmans together in the 80s. Dickey did the refin in his garage, as rumor goes. Dan used it during his tenure with the Allmans, and then with Greg Allman for his two solo discs in the late 80s.

An off-centre top would drive me nuts!
I've never understood these conversions, why not just leave it gold???

So, is this the guitar that Dangerous Dan sold, and Dickey blew up at him?

Yes Mick. That is the one. I have heard this guitar in person played by Toler and it sounded sweet in his hands! As good as a burst in sound for sure. A lot of pro history with this guitar.

Its a POS really, take away all that ownership nonsense and its still just a POS with a ugly refin that's worse than many a clown job i have seen with a off centre seam..

Spanky! Has an aggressive bite to it.

The bite on the Big House Goldie of DA’s is much lower and warmer. It and Dickey’s one would play together well...
One of my favorite Lesters... Has that warmth no matter who plays it...

The Goldie has an almost Viola/cello color to it...
