I know there are some great computer gurus on here. I am looking for a new computer.Desktop. I had an Acer in mind, but I have seen some great deals on Dells. The one I am really thinking hard about is linked here
Dell I545-1125NBK Desktop with Intel® Pentium® Processor & 18.5" LCD Monitor

6GB Ram 640 Hard Drive!! Speakers, keyboard, the whole deal
My old antique here is only 1GB. I don't think I need 6 and 640, but this price is screaming. I want a fast no hangup computer. I think 4 GB would be plenty of RAM. My kids and wife occasionally play games, but mainly home, school, internet pc.

Advice Appreciated!!

I always use Dell for business purposes and their customer support it probably the best I've ever seen.

Dell would be first choice, run the hell away from Acer as fast as you can.

Places like Tigerdirect.com have build your own
packages, all you have to do is plug everything together

Yeah Cold I wasn't wanting to sound like a ass! I just switched to Apple and I can appreciate the quality. Sure its expensive but I think its worth the extra bucks.
Same as spending more on a guitar that appeals to you if you feel it's worth it.

I'm a consultant and have to travel quite a bit with my laptop. It gets quite a bit of abuse; cold temps, humidity, impacts, you name it. I've always bought Dell laptops (I build my own non-portable computers). Dell has historically been rated the most durable laptops. They seldom fail and Dell support is terrific.

Get a Hp, they are loaded with bullshit progs you dont need!!

Also, you wont be able to format it to get rid of all that market research shit, because they wont give you a windows disk, just a recovery disk which will ensure all those bullshit market research progs stay on your PC. :D
