Well... I don't have one yet.... so i keep my eyes and ears open here:wave:

Just starting to get into pedals, only used drive pedals and reverb (mostly amp reverb as my the twin has a great reverb, Marshall not so pedal here)

I'm really happy with the Carbon Copy because its often inadequately described “warmth”. I like that “warmth” that I describe as a really good integration with my guitar's signal going into the preamp on my Dark Terror. I've had older digital delays that were so obviously grating on the overall tone; some having that harsh “digital tail”. I know later additions of digital delays just about eliminated this shortcoming, but I still prefer how analog gets melded into my tone.

No preference. I'm a delay nut and have a number of them. Digital (Boss DD-7), analog (Carbon Copy and Boss DM-2w) and digital that models analog (EQD Disaster Transport Snr and Boss DD-7 analog DM-2 replication).

Analog is awesome for the reasons described above. Digital also has it's uses and quite often I use it as a substitute to analog becasue it's there and fun. I use Digital re-production of analog in the same way as analog pedals.

Both!

I've been using a Guyatone MD-3 on my main rig forever. It added delay and nothing else.

Then I tried a Carbon Copy on my 2nd rig and loved it. But when I tried to switch them, I didn't like it.

Yes when I took the Carbon Copy out my tone was "off" and cold....I removed it cause its "dark" but that warmth or darkness adds to the overall tone in some peculiar way.....hard to dial it in with the repeats its an odd beast in that manner but it really sounds great when I kick on the gain...

I use a Les Paul with my Orange Dark Terror set for a crunchy tone. The Carbon Copy in the effects loop has settings to Regen 9 a.m., Mix 8 a.m., and Delay 11a.m. It gives a subdued, subtle delay that does not interfere with the crunch. You can try it and then roll guitar volume down for less gain...more clean and experiment with each delay knob at a time to see what you like to hear. Adjusting these knobs all together can get confusing, because you don't know how each one is reacting with the others. I turn one knob to see what's added, then turn mix to hear what it does, and if not good, turn both knobs back to where you started and do about the same one at a time to experiment........

Both for different reasons. I love straight up classic rock simplicity AND I love the heavy effects usage by David Gilmour, The Edge, Jonny Buckland, etc. So I like tube tape echos, analog bucket brigade delay, and digital delay. It's all good!

I love analog delay, but only for a short slapback sound. Kind of a country thing, but not as long of repeats as a rockabilly sound. Just to give it a little bit of space. I typically have this on anytime I'm playing classic rock rhythm guitar stuff. And certainly for any kind of country throwback sound. I usually combine it with a slight spring reverb to give even more "air".

But I love digital delay for long delays, creating a wash along with digital reverbs. I love the dotted 8th Edge thing so much, and I love just longer delay in general for solos and for parts. I usually use plate or hall reverb with it to get that ambient/soundscape/shoegaze thing happening. Some would call this praise and worship inspired, but it's really the Edge.

I have a Carbon Copy Mini on my board. I have the bright switch and mod switch on.

If I ran into some cash, I would buy the JHS Panther Cub - analog with a tap tempo

I like the warmth of analog delays. I have an Ibanez AD9. its old as hell and beat up. I love it.

What do you like best? Analog or digital?

What delay pedal do you use?
A digital delay is much more veratile, but I use an MXR Carbon copy...usually just enough to fatten the tone a little. Had a Canyon digital, but gave it to my son. Just doesn't fit my style of playing.

Wow, a lot of Carbon Copy users around here, including myself. Didn't realize they were that popular. I bought mine on a recommendation, and never regretted it.

Yes... Prefer analog, got a Carbon Copy on my main board and a Ibanez mini on my travel board. Eventually I want to get a fancy digital unit, been having lots of fun with the old Line6 DL4. :dude:

Given your ideas, I must say "I still haven't found what I'm looking for"
