So when i was out in San Diego, Del Taco was abundant between SD and LA.
I never thought much of it because it was just.. There. There were 10000 other ma and pa joints that had Carne Asada Burritos the size of your forearm for half the price so Del Taco was abandoned. Being away from them for over a decade ive always used them as a litmus test for fast food tacos.
Taco bell should be shut down and embarassed publicly for the food they serve
Taco Johns is like the in betweener.. Their breakfast is their saving grace.
My wife has listened to me bellow about how much i just wish i could have Del Taco for 12 years now. Today to my surprise, there it was... A f***in Del Taco!
...at the worst time possible. We have been traveling and the last 2 days we have been crippled by a double whammy stomach flu.
As a fat kid who hasnt eaten in 48+ hours i wasnt about to pass on this. I started feeling like a human around noon. By 5 we were eating Del Taco.
It was better than it ever has been. Fish tacos that arent abnormally sketchy.
My wife who was strongly opposed but went along due to my enthusiasm was caught saying "why in the hell arent these everywhere"
So ladies and gents, if you have a Del Taco near by that you dont think much of, font take them for granted.
Very interesting topic. When I was stationed in San Diego, I used to go to Del Taco a lot. I think (even to this day) their menu is a lot better than Taco Bell.
Regarding the thousands of Mom and Pop places - 2 come to mind (and they are still there): Jalisco's which is near Imperial Beach, and Santanas (which is near the Point Loma Sub Station. Jalisco's was very small (you parked and entered from the back). Great food! Santana's was open 24-7, and had those big forearm burritos (that is where I fell in love with horchata).
Getting back to Del Taco (we lovingly called it "Death Taco"); there is one out here in Mesa, AZ. There are several in various parts of the valley. I will be heading to the one in Mesa this evening as a matter of fact.
Great topic man!![]()
There's also one in Point Loma.
Know the common denominator in this equation? they're both very close to an in-n-out.
IDK about you guys, but I don't eat much fast food. It's ****ing terrible food for you (all of it). I eat it maybe once every week or 2, and when I go, I go to In-N-Out because it's at least somewhat good food that doesn't hurt my stomach. Oh it's also really inexpensive. $5.56 for a full burger meal.
When I lived in the NW I only went to Burgerville, once every week or 2. Again, because it was actually somewhat good food.
After McDonalds, Burger King, Wendys, Taco Bell, Carl's Jr, and all the rest of that shit started hurting my stomach, let alone not tasting very good to begin with, and all fairly expensive (and getting more expensive) I just quit eating there all together. I don't miss it at all. Even a sandwich made at home tastes better. I think LOTS of people just get adjusted to the routine of eating fast food and they need to step back and really ask themselves if they enjoy it. Most likely they will be shocked and think "no, not really".
There's a reason why America has a lot of fat people. And eating a lot of fast food is a big player in that.
Del Taco RULES!!! Been eatin' there since it was called Naugles...
Ahhh........ the macho-combo burrito at Naugles was my favorite![]()
