So when i was out in San Diego, Del Taco was abundant between SD and LA.
I never thought much of it because it was just.. There. There were 10000 other ma and pa joints that had Carne Asada Burritos the size of your forearm for half the price so Del Taco was abandoned. Being away from them for over a decade ive always used them as a litmus test for fast food tacos.

Taco bell should be shut down and embarassed publicly for the food they serve
Taco Johns is like the in betweener.. Their breakfast is their saving grace.

My wife has listened to me bellow about how much i just wish i could have Del Taco for 12 years now. Today to my surprise, there it was... A f***in Del Taco!
...at the worst time possible. We have been traveling and the last 2 days we have been crippled by a double whammy stomach flu.

As a fat kid who hasnt eaten in 48+ hours i wasnt about to pass on this. I started feeling like a human around noon. By 5 we were eating Del Taco.
It was better than it ever has been. Fish tacos that arent abnormally sketchy.
My wife who was strongly opposed but went along due to my enthusiasm was caught saying "why in the hell arent these everywhere"

So ladies and gents, if you have a Del Taco near by that you dont think much of, font take them for granted.

When I drove across the country a few years ago, I almost lived on Del Taco once I got out west.
My bass player buddy always talked about how much he loved Del Taco. He asked me to get him some packets of their sauces - so every time I stopped at one, I'd grab a handful of 'em.

They are soooooooooo much better than Taco Hell.

On my way back home from San Fran and Vegas, I got stopped by the po po in Kansas.
I guess I looked like a drug carrier, so I got my car searched.
The only thing the cop had to say once they couldn't find anything was "Why do you have 2 lighters and a giant bag of hot sauce packets?"
I asked him if either of those items were illegal. He said no, and I was free to go.

I live in Ohio, and was up in Toledo a few moths back, and I found the only Del Taco in the state.
It wasn't as good.:dunno:

There are a few close by.

Del Taco is similar to what Taco Bell was 30 or 40 years ago... As far as fast food goes it's not too bad and probably healthier for you than most.

Del Taco is good, but it's no match for the Taco Bell of my youth

Im in Toledo right now. Thats where i bumped into del taco. I gotta say its pretty damn good. We will have to see how it deals with this stomach flu but im just past the throwing up point of it (i think) im ok if i have a mudslide over it.
Its just nice. Its what i needed to rebound. Its not heavy, not too starchy, got cabbage for roughage. Im a happy camper with my choice... Beats anything else i could imagine cramming in my mouth after being a biological weapon for 2 days.

Yeah Taco Bell was the bomb... Remember the Mexicones?... Just some re fried beans and cheese stuffed into a corn tortilla "cone".

And there was what, like, only 5 or 6 things on the menu?

You know i was looking at the nutritional facts and i was thinking as long as you stay away from fries and fish tacos you you subway style lose weight eating there. Its pretty impressive as far as fast food goes

Del Taco RULES!!! Been eatin' there since it was called Naugles...

Too bad you didn't get a Crispy Shrimp taco while you were there, they only come around this time of year and they are awesome!!!

Even the burgers are the best kept secret in fast food, just good food...

There only three Del Taco places in the entire state of Florida... yet, I nonetheless managed to eat at one in Orlando a while back... but it's about forty miles from home!

Pretty good, though! :thumb:

Because of the fern industry, there are lots of Mexicans in my home town/county, along with a whole bunch of really good Mom 'n Pop type restaurants. I don't think I've eaten at a Taco Bell in at least a decade...

Hey D,

There was a bell out front. The buildings had that stucco, or whatever, style. Way nicer than the homogenized mess now. Cripes, it's like somebody got paid to copy a Picasso and had a stroke instead

It was magical. Before ubiquity. That counts fer something, ya know?

My favorite was that cinnamon thing, I don't recall the name, but they were big, fluffy tortillas. The precursor to the stix, I guess

(early 80s, fer reference point)

It'll always be a myth to me, on account of my childhood. I have found one Taco Bell in all of my travails that almost holds a candle to my memory. I wanna say Coldwater, MI, just before the Indiana border. Good people, always fresh.

Other than that, boo-hoo
