Teledog and Itdave convinced me to try building an amp, starting with a 5f1 champ; which I can't start right now, but plan on working on eventually this year. (Cygnus I might be calling you:laugh2:) We'll see how it goes.

I'm about half way through building my second 5F1. This one is for me! I'm waiting on a few parts so I can finish it up. Hopefully this weekend.

It's a simple build that you won't have any trouble with. Most of the parts can be sourced from Weber. Their prices are MUCH lower than Mojotone (where I bought the parts for my first build). However, I am using a Mojotone PT and a MM OT (BF Champ, not Tweed).

Keep in mind the Fire Department is much closer to you than I am!
:laugh2:

Glad to see you give it a shot.

Keep me posted, I'd be more than willing to stop by after work.

Glad to hear it's coming along well Don. Can't wait for a tone report! Did you use the multi tap OT on this one as well?

Pics or it didn't happen! :laugh2:

Thanks for the tip on Weber parts too!

I'm thinking a nice fall project may be a 5E3 deluxe.

I'm using a single tap 8 ohm OT. This amp is my keeper and I'll only use it with the Weber 10A100 which is 8 ohms. I have my big amp if I ever want more speakers or more power.

I'll start a thread when It's finished so I can post pics of the cab rebuild as well as the amp.

A 5E3 is a very sweet amp and will be a fun project.
