Decision help for 2nd guitar

I’ve got $1100 “ish”to blow. Need another axe to compliment one and only electric, a standard 50’s. Should I get an Epiphone Sheraton, American (or vintera) tele or a Les Paul Tribute? I think the tribute is a great guitar. Cant seem to bond with strats and narrowed it down to these 3.

Telecaster. I have a Standard Tele and a Vintera '50s. The Vintera has a fatter neck, old school 7 1/4" fingerboard radius and three barrel bridge (but I converted the Standard to that bridge long ago.)

I don't like thick bodies, aka no sheraton. I have never been able to bond with a tele, so that's out. So, from your 3, that leaves Tribute. In your case, I would say get something with P90s for variety.


But, that is me. Simple fact, is I am not you.

Have you thought about an SG?

From your choices, easy: Les Paul Tribute. It'll actually be different enough from what you have to give you a pretty different experience while still feeling familiar..

I recently sold off all of my guitars that were not Les Pauls and bought another Les Paul because, really, nothing else feels right to me. I have different pickups and neck thicknesses and its enough variety for me.

Okay, trying to think a little out of the box here ... How about a Prophecy LP or SG for just $899?

A Tele or Strat would get my vote. Close 2nd is the Sheraton- they are fantastic.

if you've narrowed it down, go for the tribute. bought mine on a whim and it is awesome.

The Tribute isn’t that much different than the Standard 50’s, check out a Telecaster, they are quite versatile and their bright sound is a good counterpoint to the heavier sounding LP. Also, the Tele bridge pup really roars when pushed.

This 58 reissue is my go to.

If you've got a great humbucking geetar the next stop should be a great single coil geetar in my opinion.
You'll cover so much ground that way that you'll be able to do so much more, maybe a Tele, Strat or P90 Gibson would be my choice

The tribute is a great guitar. If you want something a little different try an SG. If you want something more different try a Tele.

Came here to say a P90 Tribute--- mine is awesome--- used.

Or a Baja Tele- a bigger neck, which is nice, and a great Tele.

Or a used Gretsch hollow body with a Bigsby.... and TV Jones pickups.... like a 5410.
