I was at Guitar Center tonight looking around and noticed an Elitist in the used section, I got all excited because this is the first Elitist I've seen in real life and they are beautiful guitars, this one was in great shape just some minor wear that you would probably expect and it sounded great. The price they were asking was $799 and talking to the manager a little it seemed like the least he would take was $750, is this price in the ballpark? I've tried looking around the net and can't find a whole lot. It's a honey burst plain top like I said, unfortunatly I was so excited I forgot to note the serial number. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

What do you mean by minor wear? If it is in decent shape, for $750 I would grab it and run.

Just some minor scratches on the back, I guess basically just normal wear you would expect to see from a used guitar. No big dents, deep scratches or disfiguring marks or anything like that. Overall in very good shape.

if you want it... call and buy it over the phone. i found an elitist riviera at a pawn shop yesterday (for $250:shock:) and as i went home to research it, apparently it sold not long after i left the shop. the story is here http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/epi...-elitist-riviera-i-found-local-pawn-shop.html

needless to say, i am very bummed out. if you can afford it and you want it... get it. does it include the hard shell case? i would see what else they can throw in.

Wow, that must have been a real heartbreaker, I guess the moral of the story is if you find an Elite/Elitist for a decent price pick it up ASAP.

Anyway I went down there this morning and after playing it for a little bit paid the $750 without hesitation and yes it did come with the original hard shell case, he even threw in a few sets of strings and a guitar strap which is a nice little bonus. I also brought a friend with me who is a better player than I am and he agreed its a heck of a guitar, as a matter of fact he says he's gonna keep his eyes peeled for an Elitist :)

Only bummer is the police hold thing isn't up until this Sunday so I couldn't bring it home today, I would have loved to play all this weekend but thats ok I guess I have some work to do and it would have been pretty hard to pull myself away from her.

Thanks, I'm contemplating camping out in front of Guitar Center tonight so I can get it first thing in the morning :hmm:

The wait has been pretty excruciating I guess Petty was right when he said waiting is the hardest part.

So, where is the update? :thumb: Congrats on finding a nice Elitist. Sounds like you got a good price on it.

I also recently purchased an Elitist that's in excellent condition. Got it from a SoCa dealer who gave me a great deal on it.

cheers to you and your new Guitar

Congrats, that's a great price!!

I've only seen 3 for sale lately, 1 for $800 in excellent condition in town (I jumped on it) one for $950 in town which sold quickly, and one on the other side of the country that apparently sold for $800 and came back again at $1200

So $750 seems like a great price. I wouldn't expect that from a guitar store...

What is the "police hold thing?"

It's a policy GC has, where if a used item has been in the store less than 30 days, you can buy it, but you cannot take it home until the hold is up. It's to allow for the reporting and cross-checking of the guitar against the police blotter.

I just learned about this the other day when I was at gc looking at used amps. Apparently, the wait period depends on the town. Danvers ma law states that gc has to wait 7 days before they can sell it.

Good luck with the new guitar. The elitist I almost bought felt great... I have not stopped thinking about thur one that got away. That stinks that you have to wait. Once I make up my mind to buy something, I want it NOW! I finally decided on buying a mustang 1 amp after thinking about it for weeks. Once my mind was made up, I had to go and pick it up. I didn't want to wait to have it shipped.
