Why does your maple not twang anymore? It has a Maplerneck, so twang is what it does while resting even, unless something else is afoot.? What would kill the Twang, Elixer strings perhaps? You are speaking of the coolo looking yellow maple, right, number @?

I still have the boring white pickguard that came with the Strat and the noisy pickups as well. I am a high gain fan, so the EMGs work wonders and still have a nice woody tone when backed off.

Ok well Yes still the maple necked one, First I took a .047 cap and ran it from Volume Pot Lug one, to tone pot2 Lug one , Then Re strung it with GHS Boomer Heavy Weights 10-60 Still the stock pickups in it, They Sound far too good to remove out of it, you can still tell its a maple Strat by tone but all the Extra high end twang seems kind of gone I like my mod, works for me ! :thumb::slash:

I play Strats all the time, even more than my Gibsons nowdays.
What he said, but in the other direction. I started out on Fenders, Teles and Strats. Now I play my Paul the most. I still take a strat out every once in awhile. But I just don't seem to have the feel for them as I use to.

I'm afraid I have no idea, I got it used and abused (pre Buck Owens paint job, tho. I did that). Mine's a '94, and the serial is MN4 +6 digits. Where did you find your info?

This has got to be the most therapeutic thread I've ever read!

After my big slump in '89 (divorce) I went out & got this:

It used to be Ocean Turquoise.

Can you tell me how to date a MIM Strat, year ? with
the serial # MZ3 + 6 digits.

all the info I can find is MZ3 + 5 digits (does the first #1 after the 3 not count?)
MZ3 should be a 2003 Strat M is for Millenium Z Being for ZERO

I agree per Fender serial # identification chart I found.
But, they all said it should only have 5 digits after the MZ3,
this one has 6 and is really throwing me off!

I dont have said axe in my possession yet, it should arrive on Weds.
I'll double check everything when I have it in my grubby hands.

Thanks for all the info guys!:applause:

On a fender serial # identification sheet (web)
and it's funny they claim yours should be MN4 +5 digits, not 6 like mine.
I think I'm completely missing something:rofl:

LB, I just checked Fender.com, 5 or 6 digits is normal on both yours and mine after the MN4, or the MZ3 in your case.

Great, thanks alot C.T.!:applause:
I was actually beating myself up over it, couldnt understand
why I couldnt understand?

The guy I got it from had great pic's, and I went over them with
a fine-tooth-comb trying to find something that would make me
believe I just got hosed on some knock-off Strat. :mad:But couldnt
find anything wrong with it? The main reason for my concern
was that I got it way cheap, and it looks brand-new?
I'll post a pick next week when it arrives.:eek2:
