I am hoping to pick up the Special in a few years on the used market.
I like the fact it is something different and the front load layout makes it very easy to modIf they can make those they can make them vintage correct. There's not a lot in it.
...I was able to nab one for $999....
I got mine from Musicians Friend. Mint condition open box Which is how it was listed $999, thenI t was gone as I had it in the shopping cart. Salesperson honored the price for a new one since there were no mint open box left. At the same time the mint condition 1 was $999 they were listing blemished condition 2 for $1199 which made no sense. If you talk to them they have a lot of leeway. And if you get nowhere, simply call back and get a different sales rep. Some seem to be more willing or able to help with discounts than others.Where can I get one of these for $999?

They also have a 145 day return policy due to Covid, so even if you buy an open box, you have very little to lose. Most of time they were never even played. I m still looking for the “blemishes” on a ‘61 SG reissue I bought from them.Where can I get one of these for $999?
What's going on here with the neck join? I just took the guard off mine and it's the same as the purple one? Looks like it's been routed for a single coil? Did it start life as a melody maker?
I've not seen a DC Junior like the one in the pic above, but they do make one in an SG junior model. They are pretty pricey at $1399.00 though...I like the new one but why won't they give us what we want. A double cut vintage correct Junior! I know Custom Shop do them but the price for a simple guitar is obscene. They've always got to put a 'twist' on it. I built my own using a luthier made body and neck and cost me £600 finished. All vintage correct wiring and hardware. How come Gibson can't do one? View attachment 378289
Fantastic guitars for the short period of time they were available. I purchased a few when they were released and glad I did. They make a great platform for modifications. The one below I had modified removing the P90 had a new pickguard fabricated and installed a Wolfetone Dr. Vintage in the bridge. This guitar really rocks! If I’m correct, this model is no longer available. Too bad because it was a very nice well built guitar at a reasonable price! They could make ONE,.... but they have to make 100s if not 1000s,.... a lot of material and time involved... you would think it would make them less expensive but the overhead and pending debt (remember the bankruptcy issue)... It's going take a while for Gibson to reach that point to be really cost effective. Hiring new leadership doesn't squash the debt they are still in.
I have one of these 2019 DC Jrs.... these are awesome guitars for the money..... great quality... rock solid guitar.

I'd like to plane mine down 1/8", rout it out and put a thin spruce top on it to make it a semi-hollow. And install a proper '50s guard and uncompensated bridge.Fantastic guitars for the short period of time they were available. I purchased a few when they were released and glad I did. Actually a very nice platform for such ideas. That’s why I grabbed a few of them, had a few things I wanted to try. Had no idea Gibson would only offer them for a few years. To my knowledge Gibson does not build them any more!I'd like to plane mine down 1/8", rout it out and put a thin spruce top on it to make it a semi-hollow. Long & McQuade had dozens and dozens of them, but they finally sold them all. I'm sure a few will come back as trades. I'd buy another if I can get the same price as the first one.Actually a very nice platform for such ideas. That’s why I grabbed a few of them, had a few things I wanted to try. Yeah, the initial price was fantastic. However, since they quit making them the ones that pop up for sale are around 1K. Still, with todays prices not too bad for a guitar of its quality. My DC is really a fine guitar. Gibson really should have thought seriously about offering them in that configuration!Long & McQuade had dozens and dozens of them, but they finally sold them all.
