Dave Mustaine is the real deal, and there's quite a few I know who should learn about him before judging the whole Metal thing as evil or demonic or whatever else. It's music and music is art.

This guy's been through hell and back, and he's still there, kicking some serious ass.

I've always liked Megadeth. Metallica.. not so much. They're too trendy. There are too many 14 year olds that drool over them like they're god. Dave has one of the coolest metal voices ever and he can play the hell out of a guitar.

Lars is the reason I couldn't listen to anything past the Black Album... that and James started to suck when he stopped drinking.

Megadeth has always been consistent and have been getting better with each album. Endgame is a masterpiece.

But for the most part they remain true to what they wanted to be from day one... Metallica's nemesis! Gotta love that! Metallica is getting some of that edge back, specially since Rob joined in, 10 times the player Jason ever was.

Or maybe it was reverse karma since Metallica has sold about 100,000,000 to Megadeth's 25,000,000 records/cd's worldwide.

Yeah Dave was kicked out because he couldn't control his attitude when he got f@cked up. They let him back after he asked them to and then he blew it again. Hey, I like them both. I give them all tons of credit but I'm not to fond of Dave's egomaniacal personality.

I've thought James was a dick since the night he puked in my hot tub, with my girlfriend and her girlfriend in the tub, right after he popped the breaker to half my house by pouring dish soap into my toaster and turning it on. He was a shitty drunk.

Lars always came across as pompous. My ex got in his face at a club in San Jose one night. I thought she was gonna kick his ass. So did he.

Kirk was always cool with me. I knew him way back when he was with Exodus. The garage they jammed in was around the corner a down the block. At the time to them I was the kid that could score the best hash in town. My parents had bricks of it.

Never met Dave. I was pretty young when that all went down, like 14 or so. Always a big fan of Dave and Megadeth.

I wasn't throwing big kegger parties until I was 16. I met a lotta people at my own parties. We emptied two or three kegs at my place in San Pablo every Saturday night from '84-'88. It was legendary. Everyone would roll through and play a bit.

Daves problem was drinking: Funny drunks ( JH & LU) + Angry drunk ( Dave ) = Bad

so he gets kicked... and with that, megadeth forms, and the long feud begins, the media making it worse than it was uptil the B4 tour....

metallicas style and playing soon propelled them to new heights, even before the black ablum, Master was kicking ass, and then the whole cliff burton tragedy brought them to spotlight faster than megadeth could keep up... the first album from dave seemed more like a " i think im better than metallica so fuck you" alsum, but he soon went his way, he got fans, and well the media couldnt find anything else to report...

I respect Dave and i do like megadeth, but i find metallica to be my favorite of all time...

just as dave had his screwups, metallica screwed up, toturing jason, and then James and Lars having kids, which then lead to Jason's departure over his full deviation to music...

and here we are past the B4 euro tour, Dave hugging metallica and friends, and we are all happy united metalheads....

thats my two cents

I don't blame them. Jason wanted something different. He didn't really fit the band. You can't say that anyone having kids is screwing up. I feel no sympathy to Jason because his dedication to music leaves something out. Human experiences, like parenthood, further music. They allow deeper sight into the soul.

Dave Mustaine is to me the best metal rhythm player there is. Better than Het, better than any other. But if you listen to what he says, how he acts, he was branded hard by that stuff with Metallica, even if he's now trying to play it down.

I can't pick Megadeth or Metallica if I listen to Death Magnetic (I love that album), but some of the recent Metallica stuff before DM is pretty much lame.... Can't say that about Megadeth.
