Danelectro 67 dead on-review and thoughts

A friend of mine has one of the convertible reissues. Yeah, you're right, it feels kinda cheap, but it's got cool tone, especially thru my little Champ 600.

Years ago I passed up an OLD Dano (like 60's original) U-2, they wanted $350. I don't remember why I didn't bite, but I still think about that one! It had a silly hand-painted hippie floral design on it, but it sounded really good.

I've played the Dead on '67, and it's not bad. Feels "cheap," and the trem is a little pillowy, but it's a fun guitar. Didn't plug it in, but ledlover's observations jibe with most of the Dano's I've used. It's not going to get ripping distorted tones, but its clean and mid-gain sounds can be killer. My U3 is my main "country" guitar when I record; the bridge pickup has a nice midrange snarl.
