I always feel a little sick when I first ding a good condition one, so please accept my heartfelt commiserations!

I guess your other option to having it repaired is to ‘lean into’ the chip out the finish by allowing the guitar to accumulate more dings and scratches until it looks so characterful that you don’t even notice this one anymore...

I’m just going to sand it but just out of curiosity, how would someone even fix something like this?
This sounds like a post for the Luthiers Section. ;)

I cringe, but also breath a sigh of relief, when this happens to a nice guitar of mine. The first "ding" is done, so then I can just enjoy the guitar and not worry about any future stuff.

This is pretty much what I’m going to do.

It's not that bad, there must have been larger chunks taken out of some famous guitars. Beano Burst probably had more missing after Eric burnt through some of it with his cigarettes.

I think brown sharpie and hot glue will hide it just fine!

The tele was on the other side of the strat. He probably talked her into it.
