Hey there guys this is my first post here on My Les Paul...
I would like to try Gibson guitars after a terrific experience with Fender Strats....superb guitars..but unfortunately Gibson guitars aren't what they used to be....( I have tried Les Pauls from 70s and 80s..) and it might cost an arm or a leg to get on of the Custom shop R9s and Black Beauties...so I have decided to go the Japanese route and 2 vintage guitars a Burny and a Tokai...(im leaving out Epiphone and Greco and Orville)...and i also have decided later next year to get a Edwards E LP 130 Als/re or whatever in Tobacco sunburst....but the delima I'm having at the moment is which to get a standard or custom....
Which customs would you guys recommend...??
Im getting the late 80s Burny with the VH -1 and im not sure which tokai period would be good..any reccomendations???
But is an edwards custom worth it over the standard or vice versa..??
It would be grateful if you guys could tell me which one you like over the other and like what combination...but id like atleast one custom les paul..
Thanks :dude:

its a bit hard because much of it is a matter of opinion. They are all great.

but Tokais pre 1985 are pretty special guitars.

But if you prefer lightweight guitars Edwards could be what you are after. They seem to source lightweight mahogany and are consistently lighter than other brands. Or if you prefer heavy guitars maybe steer clear of Edwards.

They are all great IMO.

Have money left over? Get a Burny Custom, early 1980s with Gigsun style split diamond headstock inlay. Try to find one that's all mahogany, no maple top cap.

Gibson guitars are still good, believe me. Better than any copy. Get a Studio if you want to save some cash. But the Historics are expensive for a reason... believe me:thumb:

Yeah OP, you should definitely buy a Studio instead of a nicely trimmed Standard or Custon for the same price.
