I played around with my new SP last night and pulled out the Custom Comp to compare.

The SP is more transparent, less noisy, has the toggle switch to adjust what frequencies you want to shave and the dip switches are easier to adjust than the internal mini trim pots on the Custom Comp. It'll make for a better transparent comp, subtle boost, adding sparkle to a humbucker, basically what Xotic advertises. The SP might be a better funk or reggae pedal too (don't play funk or reggae, so don't hold me to that).

The SP would be a slam dunk winner, but...

the Custom Comp offers more squish and performs better if you're a Tele picker. Chickin pickin' and bends sound more country, the attack is more percussive and lead lines flow more than chop. It does shave more top-end off compared to the SP, but that's probably a good thing on a Tele setup to Twang.

If you're a Twangcaster type of guy, the Custom Comp is a little better for old school, Dyna Comp squash.

To recap...

for Tele guys that want to Twang, go Custom Comp.

The rest of the world, go SP...

of course, IMO.

Thanks for the review!!!
This would be a tough one for me. I'm all about creating sustain and leveling out dynamics for hybrid picking fluid leads, and with gain. I like elements of country picking, use a strat a lot. But I am NOT a country player and tend to play more hard rock and now through a Marshall.
Which one then?

Xotic.

You can still Tele pick on the SP, just not as pronounced. All the other aspects of a good compressor gives the edge to Xotic.
