I feel super privileged to be using curly maple to build an amp stand for Mr. J. Atkinson, who plays through a vibrolux combo wrapped in a curly maple custom cab. Gonna be a fun week for me watching this wood come to life! Fingers crossed!

Here is what it looks like in rough cut form:) :wow:

Great googly moogly, that is a nice piece of stock ! Almost a shame to cut into it. I know it will be a beautiful piece of furniture when you are done.

Good luck and have fun !

yeah it was quite mind blowing to saw it in half I must admit. The first glue cycle is drying overnight tonight, fingers crossed on my glue lines. I sanded all frigging day today. Maple is amazingly hard wood, and since this is curly I have to avoid the planer blades due to tear out issues...

Jimbob - That's a beautiful guitar! What on earth is it sitting on though? Did you make a rug out of Barkley from Sesame Street?

very resonate, even with the bad recording I can tell it is enjoyable to play. I've recently become a hollow body electric guy, I used to go for the solid bodies every time.

not much progress for the last few days. Hopefully I'll get some sanding done today before dinner.

This is almost ready to dye, I have to build the other parts first, but this piece is almost done. In the picture it is wet from the final wipe down to raise any loose fibers prior to the final sanding to prep for the dye to make the figuring really pop.

Ya man! Two to four tops worth there actually, or a neck through:). Yeah, he asked specifically if i had access to a chunk of Curly maple, I found this 8/4 and anothre piece of 4/4 for under 100 at a friends wood shop near Asheville NC. he pounced on it so here I am working with some killer wood:dude:
