This kid is awesome; he's in lane 1 to start.
I had picked the dude in all yellow, he looked strong; Victor Solorio smokes everybody.
Set national record in 1500m, too.

None of these guys run like an 8 year old.
They been trained.
We certainly never ran 800 meter runs when I was a kid.
40 yard hurdles, stuff like that.
Might have had a 400 yard run, and we were 11 or 12.

I didn't even see where he came from... it was the same three or 4 up front the whole time and this kid just shows up like he was dropped off from a train!
Smart kid... hang back and save energy. Turn an 800 yard run into a sprint. The kids in red and yellow were wasting energy trying to maintain 1st.

11 or 12 we were running a mile during PE once a week.
Special days... maybe once a month, we'd run up Greenleaf and up the hill to the Whittier water tank.

Today I get winded walking from the parking structure to my office.

I don’t mean this to come across as boasting, just a comment on the world in general. Whatever it was that was going on, people evidently think it’s over. Somebody kicked over the hornets nest. People are everywhere. It’s crazy. It’s been like the 4th of July week since March. Today wasn’t that far off of Mother’s Day.

Last year there was a couple weeks of lots of neighborhood walkers... dogs, perambulators, smiling strangers waving the glad hand.
I see the usuals this year, that's about it.
Novelty wore off.
