Why would you buy a copy ?

A Gibson Studio is a real Les Paul my friend . :)

for one reason, you can't get a lp studio that looks like this:

...which comes complete with a lacquer flash coat (and more importantly) a real ebony board. :)

although i did bail on the duncan pickups and get a wolfetone mhmkII bridge pickup (and a local winders low wind neck pickup.

i've owned a studio. as in past tense. i'll most assuredly keep the edwards. the studio was gone inside of three months.

dsmcl i've got about ten years ago a very terrible experience with buying used guitar, but in that case i can give it another chance!

By the way a friend of mine, advised me to consider the esp ltd ec-401 or ec-1000. They are really easy to find also in italy at low prices. The technical specifics are really really close to edwards guitar, they also mount the same pickups! what do you think about?

I never tried an ESP LTD so I wouldn't be ale to advice on them, but they look like they are well made. ESP is a serious builder.

The best for you is to try one in a shop and you'll know if it's for you or not.

I too had a bad experience buying second hand and via internet. But I learn fast... since then I bought guitars in France, UK, US and Japan and I never had to regret it.
Again, if you need help, you can PM me.

I recently purchased two Edwards guitars. Both in the higher end bracket of their models. I think if you really want a killer guitar buy one with the last portion of the model number ending in ALS. Its their all lacquer series. They just seem to be made to a higher level of fit and finish and they are the most faithful to a real LP. I got extremely lucky and got one with a solid top but most of them will be a veneer. But they come with some really nice premium appointments. Mine came with

1. Seymour Duncan Seth lover PAF style humbuckers (they are not wax potted but I have no feedback issues even with stupid amounts of gain)
2. Nitrocellulose finish

3. Gotoh aluminum tailpiece

4. Gotoh SL90 Tuning machines

5. CTS vintage style pots with vintage push back wire as well as PIO caps

My other Edwards is a poly finished model with a quilt top. Great guitar but the ALS is for sure my preference.

As for where to buy them I would look at digimart.net and use a translator to view it in your language. The reason I say to use this site is because all the ebay sellers also use that site and they always list the guitars cheaper on digimart. I was very very miffed to see that the ALS Edwards I purchased was listed on that site for a full $300 cheaper than I paid them direct and on that site they were offering free worldwide shipping. So a guitar that would have cost me $575 cost me nearly $900. I complained but it was no use. In the end I kept the guitar because I fell in love with it and it ended up having a rare (nearly unheard of ) solid top. Not to mention that despite the difference In price I agreed to pay what I did.

Only by technicality of transfer of ownership. Some don't get hung up on the name. My E-LP-125ALS is more faithful to what most consider a Les Paul than any studio ever made. Different strokes for different folks.

Edwards is a division OF ESP

The ESP LTD EC-1000 imo and ime is a step below the Edwards ALS series in quality

Also the ESP LTD aren't accurate replicas (shape/headstock) if you care about that

Imo the Edwards LPs are ESP E-II quality aka former ESP LTD Elite and ESP Standard

Edwards are SO consistent in quality you can buy used w/confidence

I'd buy used from Ishibashi or Guitar Planet with CONFIDENCE M

Or Lumi as mentioned

I agree with the above poster that an Edwards ALS (or LTS) model is a much better guitar than a Gibson Les Paul studio and much more consistent in quality

I've owned over a half dozen Edwards and currently own 2

Great guitars
