A less extreme example on a ‘93 LP Standard.
Note the tailpiece is raised slightly, something I don’t like to do.

I’m sold!
This really is a better mousetrap!

Two of my Les Pauls have a bridge that sits high enough to lend themselves to the whole top-wrap argument.
And I ain’t top-wrapping!

MY OBSERVATIONS
Comparing the Lightning bar to the TOM bar, I noticed a couple of minor differences.

First, the holes for the strings are drilled in a straight line, and not in an arch as on the Gibson piece.
I don’t know why that would matter, because there isn’t much of a radius or arch at the bridge.

Second, the thicker TOM bar stands up a little higher.
The Lightning bar is slightly slimmer, but not enough to notice without comparing them side by side.

Those angled holes in the stop bar are just the ticket.
Only the low E still presses against the top of the hole as it exits toward the bridge.
The adjacent A string is at the top of the hole, but the other four strings come out pretty much in line.
No bends until the string goes over the bridge saddle.

BRAVO to Lightning Guitars!

Thank you so much for the detailed review!

You’ve shown exactly why I’ve come up with this and your pictures are great, is it ok to share them and your review on my socials?

As you pointed out the holes are drilled in a straight line and not a radius as the TOM bar.
This is very deliberate, as noted there is no radius at the bridge. The original design is not thought out enough as early versions as we all know consisted of a wrap around bar on it’s own. They added the bridge later but didn’t adequately modify the stop bar to suit the application, so the radius was left in and the string angle not addressed.

So glad you’re pleased with it, let us know how it feels to play

Absolutely!
Share the pics as much as you like.

I will try to get the Lightning bar on the ‘93 Standard in the next few days.
Detailed pics of that one will follow as well.

Though none of my other Les Pauls have the bridge problem to this extent, I’m tempted to replace the stop bars on them anyway.

At least get another to keep on hand - just in case.
