Well, I was born
To have adventure
So I just followed up the steps
Right past her fuming incense stencher
To where she hung her castanets
She said she was
A Magic Mama
And she could throw a mean Tarot
And carried on without a comma
That she was someone I should know
(Is that a real poncho . . . I mean
Is that a Mexican poncho or is that a Sears poncho?
Hmmm . . . no foolin' . . . )

I have a long history of developed goofy corkage it goes back as far as I can remember. In the 70's hiking boots were popular -had to have just the right pair, then square toed boots with buckles...then suspenders like Mork :laugh2: except they were so popular they were sold out in all the shops and I had to settle for an off colour rainbow...that just wouldn't do it emboldened me.

Next was aviator shades like the guy in that weird M pop song but none looked exactly right until I found the pair. All this craziness transferred to BMX...everybody had a Kuwahara thanks -E.T but no I traded and got a Hutch then a Quadangle then a Haro Freestyler...OMG this sh!t has been going on forever.

My love of quirkiness is the result...I LOVE different things, nice things, cool things, things people may like like guitars but I like the out there stuff. Different in a group is good. :D

OH!

Sorry.:laugh2:

Gallo Bros Red Mountain Vin Rose at $0.69/ga didn't have corks, even after it finally got up to $1.29/ga, over the years.

That's what I always drank, if I couldn't afford a pint of Hiram Walker's Private Cellar (or even Ten High).:naughty:

Ok, night before last I was helping my wife out by bartending a wedding she was catering. We had four wines out, a cab, a pinot noir, a chardonnay and a pinot grigio (plus a muscato, which I don't count as wine). Well, nobody, and I mean nobody, was ordering the p.n.- presumably because it had a screw cap rather than a cork.

The joke was, that pinot was by orders of magnitude the best wine on the bar-- the others were just our house wines, but the p.n. was leftover from the fundraising gala for which the board had ordered very very nice stuff indeed...

Cap sniffers 1 - Cork sniffers yet to score...

Cheers

I left my guitar in the back seat of my car in the sun and now I can get that sweet jimmy page tone no matter what amp im playing through :cool2:

Funny. That happened with an old amp I accidentally left in my truck for a few hours. Now every guitar I plug into it throws out major Page tones. Weird. :laugh2:

sorry about that
" cork sniffing " is such a general term on these forums __ and nobody would have guessed that there would be an actual discussion of wines , unless it was more clearly expressed

as for wine / quick recommend
take a look into Tait ( Ball Buster ) wines . . if you like the sort of glass you can smell from halfway across the room

...'cause it has diodes!

Anyway. Not enough of a wine taster to be able to "sniff cork" and pick wine using that method.

I have to wonder how many of the pretentious dorks who sniff the cork in a restaurant even understand why it's done (and why they shouldn't unless they want to look like pretentious dorks).....

The purpose of the drill is to check for signs of mold on the cork, which indicates that an air leak has developed and the bottle has gone bad. The thing is, it's only a circumstance that arises with vintage wine-- there's simply no point to it whatever if you are drinking the 95% of restaurant offerings that are less than five years old.

I was trying to look up stats for wine drinkers as I usually associate wine with women, on dating sites it seems every second woman's profile has wine listed as a like (it probably mixes good with the antidepressants):laugh2:.

Stats show millenials are big wine drinkers. It's difficult sifting thru the stats making sense...but I can't believe I went this far anyway with something so boring.:laugh2:

"Beer has been traditionally the drink of choice for Americans, but despite the rise of niche craft beers, the beverage’s overall popularity has declined. In 1992, beer had a 20% advantage over wine as the preferred national drink. Now just one percent of Americans claim to prefer it over wine.

Gender plays a key role in what people imbibe. Fifty-three percent of men say beer is their drink of choice. In comparison, 52% of women favor wine."

Screw that cork sniffing. When they present a wine to me, I take the cork and rub it all over my gums, and holler "Hah cha-cha". Wait....whut?

I can't dis anyone else, I ride Italian superbikes. I must like repairing them.

A friend of mine who had a Ducatti swears the engine was made of compressed spaghetti.

Before drinking wine, I sniff the cardboard of the box to check storage conditions.
