I started an 80s party band (hopefully there will be parties again)....the latest recruit in the band is the bass player. He's a cop.
Anywho...with this lockdown BS....we have taken to band rehearsals offline. Meaning everyone records their own part at home and sends it to the next guy....hey, it's better than nothing!
Anyway, this bass playing cop (who is a great guy, a riot really) is about as computer tech savvy as my dad. So he went out and bought a focusrite interface bundled with ProTools.
I've been teaching him how to record over the phone and texts. It's been a massive learning curve, and trying to teach him remotely has been frustrating as hell. ProTools can seem like rocket science!
So the one day he treated me to an expression that I've never heard before from anyone I know (being Canadian :cool2:)
After a particularly frustrating session he said

"I swear to God I'm gonna put 4 or 5 rounds in this stupid computer"

:laugh2:

But it's coming around now...he just sent me some beautiful bass tracks!

"The general public does not want officers doing their jobs until they do"

If we break laws in our vehicles (speeding, illegal parking, run red lights & stop signs)
Then we don't want cops to do their job and write us tickets

BUT

If someone breaks into our car, steals it, vandalizes it, etc.
Then we do want them to do their job and find out whos guilty and recover our property.

So in a nutshell, we don't want law enforcement to do their job until we think they need to do it.

Which makes no sense at all, and reason for the attitude

I often park against traffic where I work. They can ticket me if they want to. The days of ANYBODY getting my goat, but me-I'm allowed to SPIKE my heart-are over. Tax me+ticket me+beat me+++++++++in the end all just tales to be told. I repeat =THIS IS A RIPOFF REALM! All made of lint+plastic+rubber bisquits.

In my sleepy little suburban neighborhood, the cops have been outstanding to deal with. Patient and professional. The Sergeant lives about 100 yards away and he is known for his even-handed temperament, and is considered by all to be an asset to the community. I've been here 17 years this month and never even heard of a single petty crime within a mile.

So yeah, cops suck when you don't obey the law. Otherwise, they allow the country to function without anarchy.

YES. The other night........65 yr old Gentleman. (ex LEO from yrs back). Heavy smoker 50yrs. Has COPD 10% lung capacity. DNR in place. Has Oxygen full time. Still smokes even though he cant even drink through a straw. Wife gives him a cigarette before sleep every night. Got distracted and left the pack and the lighter next to the night stand. YEP.
Mr. Marlboro lights up and blows his face clean off. It was just a black mess with melted oxygen tube.

He was Trauma hawked to a burn unit in Orlando regional. Died the next day. BUT........pesky detectives had to make sure the wife didn't do it on purpose. I know she didnt. But I have to do the investigation to protect the victim. Had to ask all these shitty questions, put her through hell again. Took pictures.......all with the beautiful aroma of burnt flesh in a smokers home that had 40 yr old curtains/ carpet that smelled like an ashtry.

Good times. :cool2:

thank your neighbors, one of them called on you.

the cop was just trying to do his/her job, but gave you an out by writing it the wrong way.

he/she did you a favor, so stop for a second and see that they appeased the complainer, and you.

so don't park wrong again so they don't have to come back, because that neighbor will call again.

You know that is so true. We never go down these quiet streets unless called to. Always a pesky neighbor. And we get shit on.
That's what I meant by it came down from the top. People go online send the Lieutenants/Captains emails about this stuff. They tell the SGT. " Idont want to hear this person anymore" take care of it.

That's 100% it.

It's not illegal here, and it took a lot of getting used to.

If it's a 2-way street you should't park facing the wrong way. That applies to residential neighborhoods anywhere as far as I know.

I didn't see this before I wrote my response. So it's true then? It depends on state/county/local regulations?

our neighbor hood was built in the 1950s. some of the "original" owners are still here, and they'll drop a dime on any of the "youngsters" given the chance. one original owner has an ongoing feud with neighbors on each side of her. she's a powder keg that one, i wouldn't cross her.

i consider her a boss level Karen. (she even has the haircut)

If I get ticketed I just might since every fucking DMV in the state is closed.:rofl:
I think it was Day 1 (or at least Day 2) that the Ontario government said expired tags, driver’s licences, health cards, etc. will all be valid until further notice. I’m surprised that hasn’t been done everywhere that government services have been shut down.

Your job is a thankless one. I see it and at times, experience it. There's often a visible change of face and demeanor when they finally realize we are fd and not pd.

So..... lemme understand this... you parked illegally. You got a ticket for that. And, now you have butt hurt?

Next time, run out the door while the cop is writing your ticket and waive your (always handy & available) copy of the Constitution over your head, while screaming wildly, "I have rights. I have rights!!!"

WTF was so hard about parking your vehicle correctly? Sorry, man. No sympathy on that one. If the details are correct, the cop was a douche-canoe, but you know... you own it. Maybe the trip to City Hall in the middle of a pandemic will teach you to park correctly?

FWIW, the police do that in my community, too. They also write tickets for the assholes who feel entitled (see Constitution rant, above) to drive 45MPH+, in our neighborhood's 25MPH limit. Their need for speed is so much more a right, than the safety of the kids playing.

What's amazing is... you'd think my neighbors would learn, right? Nope. You cannot fix stupid. Some of us call the police every other week to hold a "fundraiser" in our 'hood.

And, then we sit at the STOP SIGN and watch the revenue get generated. LOL Nothing like getting clocked for 40 in a 25, and having a stop sign violation tacked on top, is there? There's $400 you'll never see again. :laugh2:
