Got a chance to play a great gig over Labor Day weekend this year. What a blast. 40' pontoon boat on an inland chain of lakes (Portage, Strawberry, Zukey for all of the Michigan peeps). Double decker, and we decided to put the drummer and bass player on the top deck. Boats, alcohol, and rock and roll......what more could you ask for.

We got paid great....they do a banner, and sponsors pay to be on it, so we get all banner money and we sent some chicks around with a "tip jar". It's a shame....you can't really get a feel for how many people were actually there, but it was well over 1,000. The boats were 4 or 5 deep the entire length of the sandbar, and of course with out a "panoramic" shot, we could only capture a portion in one picture. Anyway.......

Back in the day, there was an urban legend about a kid who would poop through the railroad ties of the train trestle (over the river) trying to drop a deuce on folks below in boats and/or canoes. In a sad twist of irony, he drowned in that river, many years later.

That’s sad, would have been better if the story involved a train.

The train trestle involved was the actual train trestle of Stephen King's Lean on Me scene (not from the movie, but from the book (much less impressive)).

Now THAT'S a gig!! I spent MANY Augusts in Central Michigan growing up, and those folks love to party wherever water is involved. :dude: :dude:
