I will say that in person, the inlays on the Edwards Customs don't look too bad for what they are. They suit the look of the guitar better than the pearloid plastic in the Standard models.

I do only buy second hand now, so sometime there are some small cosmetic issues which are normal years wear...
of course it is better for you not to buy it if you feel it will drive nuts just by looking at it.

I never bought to Japan mainly due to heavy taxes here in Europe, I was lucky to find one in the UK.
I bought some also from the USA and I never had any problems.

There are some serious guys in Japan, just google the shops name and you will soon know if there has been some problems with the seller...

Here are a few good Edwards E-LP "100+" (top of the line)

edwards E-LP 130 | eBay

This used one is within the same budget range as the one you showed:
Edwards E LP 130ALC All Lacquer Seymour Duncan Pickups ESP Electric Guitar 10 20 | eBay

This new GoldTop look amazing...I feel GAS coming:
ESP Edwards E LP 100SD Gold Top Without Pick Guard Store's Original New | eBay

Dude, you read my F'N mind. I've been drooling over that for a 1/2 hour. OMG I got an itchy trigger finger. WTF??????????

That's what irritates me. For another $50 or whatever it could have real inlays. They look like ****. I'd pay another $200 for real ones. Wish I could put real ones in myself. I've done a few when I've taken necks off resonators and had to use the tempura black powder and super glue and file the diamond abolone down to the fretboard. But that's 4 inlays, not 10 and the fretboards are rather flat and not radiused.

Dude, let's not agonize about this. It's obvious the inlays bug the **** outta you. Cut the drama.

Don't buy and let it go.

For what it's worth, here's a close-up shot of the inlays on the Edwards E-LP-92CD I used to have.

Link doesn't work. I've asked that guy for pics on his 1 picture ads and he can't provide pics, so that kind of turned me off.

Wake up you bastards, this is critical. A decision must be made today to end the pain and suffering. I've logged 36 hours in the past 3 days looking at Japanese LP's and I'm COOKED.

Please try a more friendlier style.....
Otherwise we'll have to make a decision

It's a joke chief. We joke like that in the US.
Call each other names. Was not meant to offend anyone.

I'm all discombobbled here.

Gold or black.

I like the trapezoid inlays on the Gold, but love the binding all around the black one.

Another note, the ESP Black and Gold or supreme as it would be called if it was a Gibson LP looks to be a much thicker body, yes?

Weight is not a concern as I'm a cellar dweller mostly and don't play out standing up for hours. To me, heavier = more wood = more sustain = :thumb:

Make up your own mind if you want to pay money for a guitar with inlays you personally don't like. It's not on us to let you know what you want, and be blamed if you don't like the guitar you ended up buying.

As you can see, not all Edwards owners are bothered by the inlays, go for the FGN in that case? Maybe take a break over a day or two from looking at japanese LP's?

If you're willing to pay extra for better inlays, buy some MOP inlays and have a tech install them

Well, since that guy posted the up close pictures of the Edwards block inlays, they look decent enough. I prefer the trapezoid shape, but can live with the plastic block inlays. The rest of the guitar is stellar.

Has anybody held / seen one of the Edwards LP customs up close.? As I mentioned, it looks a lot meatier than the other Edwards - non supreme as far as thickness.

You guys seem pretty high strung, what's up with that? I know it's just a guitar. I guess my sense of humor does not come across well on text.

I'm just thoroughly confused as to what I want. It stinks buying over the net as you can't see in instrument in person.

Then I realized the inlays are plastic

That's pretty bogus. I thought these were decent instruments. Gotta cut corners somewhere I suppose.

So it's either that or an FGN, which seems to be a better built instrument.

My other question is a pickguard for Edwards guitars. I thought I read on here a Gibson one would fit, but I might have to shave the inner sides of the pickguard. Does anybody know if that is true?

Thanks

That pic is of my Edwards LPC Sykes.
It's a great playing and sounding guitar. Very well made. Only things I changed on it were the poker chip, and for a while I had the EPI LPC truss cover (see pic). I've put the original truss cover back on.
The poker chip that comes with the Sykes is a cheap foil one. So, I picked up a mirror one to replace it. Which is much nicer.
Everything else about the guitar is top notch. I really enjoy playing it and using it in the studio.

Here's my band's video. I'm using the Edwards in it.
and yes, the studio track was recorded with the Edwards.
