I've heard some play without that sounds like a train wreck because they don't have the dexterity/control necessary to play without one. Anything including and beyond eighth notes lights up their timing problems like neon lights.

I resemble these comments Edro.

Not much worse in my book to hear someone trying to do an involved run with tish timing thinking it sounds good.

OK, maybe not me because I know it still sounds like crap.

"They say that the sound of a plectrum touching the strings gives a better quality sound"

:laugh2::laugh2::laugh2:

Who the **** ever said that?

The pick is fine, for a sharp percussive attack, but there are some things that you HAVE TO either hybrid pick or fingerpick, if you want to do them with any semblance of "goodness". I've been fingerpicking so long now, that my flat picking has gone all to hell.
