So are there any other hints that it's Custom Shop besides the trem? I don't know much about IDing Vs, but I'd like to learn some here.

Aside from the ABR-1, which I suppose can be changed, there's the neck joint. It's tall with (I believe) not much/no angle as opposed to the production stuff which is set down into the body all the way to the fretboard.

Here's a photo with the various differences between a custom shop and made in USA

I believe the serial number format for CS 67 flying Vs is yynnn7. That number format may be reused on many other Gibsons but of course they are not CS flying Vs.

Can you guys help me out too? I got this V last year at Southpaw Guitars in Houston. They told me it was an '06 V that hadbeen refinished so the serial number got wiped out. Any way to know if it's a copy?

That's the best pic I have unfortunately

Thanks
Jim

Get a luthier with Gibson knowledge to check out construction details, hardware, etc. unfortunately guitars without serial numbers and paper work will always be viewed with some suspicion and this one also has non-standard pups and knobs (although if those pups are '57s that would be a good thing).

A more interesting question is why would it be resprayed. Usually a neck break.

Either way it's a nice looking guitar. Does it play well?

Thanks for the info! Yeah, it sounds great so I haven't really been in a rush to see if it's authentic. I thought neck break at first too. The shop said it hadn't been broken but we'll see.
