the r9 sounds a bit...crunchy/muddier overall? Sounds GOOD though....the standard isn't far off!
Wonder what the feel is on the R9?

My brother got an R8 years ago and I've only held it once...can't even remember what it felt like.

I've played a bunch of both. They realty did do a good job on the new 50s Standards.

The 50s standards are bananas...
so is the r9

the price of the 50s and 60s standards are impossible to imagine...
such a great deal...

I’d have one but I can’t decide which to get...

Here's my 50s Standard. Sam Ash on Dallas has a killer 60s once they reopen.

I prefer the clean tone of the R9 but the distorted one of the 50s. The Custombuckers seem to crunch more rapidly.
Burstbucker 1/2 are quite low output, and decent midrange. I bet the Custombuckers are hotter.

Obviously a gold top with P-90s, no? And put a Bigsby on it!

Plus, 49.2mm gold P-90 covers are at Philly Luthier. Eh? Eh?

Great video. Both sound fantastic! The R9 neck tone sounds subtly sweeter to my ear both clean and dirty. I have a 50s standard and absolutely love it.
