I can't believe Coke is winning. My wife won't touch a Coke and we only buy Pepsi. I will drink it as a fountain drink like at BK or McD's but Coke in a bottle hasn't been right since the stupid SOB's at coke messed with the formula when they came out with the Coke Classic and the New Coke. But I can remember as a kid growing up in the late sixties early seventies it tasted super. It probably started not being as good when they went to corn sweeteners. Plastic bottles can't be as good either. Loved stopping for gas on vacation as a kid and always got the bottled soda's and were so good. Kids today may have more choices and the internet but I wouldn't trade my time growing up for anything except maybe to go back and do it again.

Maybe you are getting old and losing your taste palette? :applause:

Sorry I couldnt help it! :thumb:

The biggest backpedal in marketing history:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nqir3-NXqG0]new]New Coke/Classic Coke[/ame]

A fail that second only to the A&R man at Decca Records turning down the Beatles and telling them that "groups with guitars are on their way out".

That being as funny as it is, it doesn't sway me from loving the product.

Thank goodness they brought back the original formula -somewhat.

every year during passover (i dont remember when that is, i think its the one thats around easter) you can get kosher pepsi, it is made with real sugar rather than high fructose corn syrup. it actually tastes better, imo. i usually buy several cases of the kosher 2 litres every year. pepsi has also been lightly promoting that it is making all its sodas with real sugar for the summer. i think its the bottles with the white caps. they are not really pushing this hard, and even tho i live in nyc, i havent seen any of these, yet.
to me, coke tastes too much like cinnamon, and goes flat way too quickly. pepsi tastes fresher, doesnt go flat instantly and has a slightly dryer taste, especially the bottles with real sugar. but i have to admit, vanilla coke is the sh*t.

I've heard many stories about how the whole New Coke protest thing was a set-up by the ad-men. I have no idea if that was true but it certainly put Coke into the news in a big way back then...that may have been the plan...

For the past I haven't had any soda due to a medical condition

When I did Dr Pepper was my favorite followed by Pepsi

Nothing but 60 to 80 ounces of water a day now

Unfortunately I don't care for water

Now that Coke has offered up "Coke Zero caffeine free."
I'm back to Coke.

Old time comic W.C. Fields observed, "I used to drink water until I discovered the horrible things fish did in it."

I like coke with johnny walker red, though I only put coke in blended whisky. Coke in a single malt is sacrilege.

Yes. I don't drink soda, but I know people who stock up during Passover.

now I pretty much just drink sweet tea.

I remember the first time I was in Atlanta and ordered "iced tea" with lunch. Didn't realize that in the South it's all "sweet tea" which to those of you not from the south it's the equivalant of getting a pound and a half of sugar in an 8 ounce drink :wow:(okay, a bit of a stretch, but you get the idea). From then on I learned to order "non sweet tea" and was looked at like a friggin' alien. :hmm:

Back on topic, I still prefer Coke. :D

Dr Pepper tastes too sweet to me. I'm weird about soda though. Straight out of the can, I think Pepsi tastes better. In a glass with ice, Coke is better. Diet Pepsi is always disgusting. Diet Coke is ok in the can or with ice. Coke Zero is probably a step up from Diet Coke, but it's a close race.

Coke Zero and Pepsi Max are both just marketing, the Diets were viewed as too feminine so thus we got these two.

Apparently...

You guys had Coke Life yet? Comes in a green can, I like it. Little more refreshing than standard coke which can be a bit "greasy" sometimes.
