let my 12 year old son listen to dragonfly for the 1st time this
evening. This is actually the 1st time he's heard anything from
clutch. he wasn't really liking it because "i can't understand what
he's saying".. so i pulled up the lyrics and he read along while
the song was playing. he basically laughed histerically at the
words, and his only comment was that it was "thoughtfully written".
i guess that's a good thingbesided him thinking it was funny. :laugh2:

I think there is a general rule that if your parent shows you something, as a kid, you will think it is lame no matter what. believe it or not I wasnt always the zep head I am now. when I was a kid my dad was always playing zeppelin; later zeppelin though. it wasnt until I followed the progression of zeppelin from the beginning that I could appreciate songs like black dog and rock and roll, as a kid they made me laugh.

that is a very obscure song. reminds me of system of a down :laugh2:

yeah, no doubt. i was too scared of my dad to do anything but sit there lmao
i'm trying to get him to listen to something besides 21 pilots, which is is super
kick at the moment.

for some strange reason he does like most all of the covers that frog leap studios
does, but hasn't cared for the originals.

that's a good song, too, that you posted. me likey.

I love the Frog Leap covers.

My kids all like different tunes and bands, to which I introduced them, over the years. One of my fondest memories was dropping of my youngest daughter at pre-school. As she walk in and waved to the teachers, she was belting out "...off to never never land!"

I put together a nice stereo rig for my oldest (senior in HS) in his room. he rocks out to much of the same stuff I listened to when I was his age. He also likes plenty of new stuff but, he has been properly exposed to lots of stuff.

Quick question though. Why on earth did you wait 12 years to play the kid some Clutch?!

Got to start them young. If you want heavy, I've been playing From Autumn to Ashes in the car lately, and my 2 year old daughter has started headbanging.

I mixed it up last night and played what I could remember of Stairway to Heaven for her.

Anything's better than the kids songs she plays on repeat...

i've let him listen to alot of stuff i enjoy. clutch is kind of left field though,
and kind of what i call swamp rock. similar to coc. so, i just never really
played it for him. don't worry though, he's listened to a ton of music that
i like. ..and on trade off, i have to listen to some of what he likes, too.
