Removed PCB and installed CTS prewired pots a while ago and had a set of pickups in it with vintage braided wire. Worked fine. I am going to reinstall the original Burstbuckers but needed to clip the quick connect plugs off...there is a black and green wire with a braided cover. I soldered the green to the pot tab where the former vintage braided wire was connected, and the black to the pot cover. It works, but seems a little noisy. If I touch metal on the guitar it quiets down. If I touch the pickup wire braid inside the cavity it makes lot of noise. Can someone tell me if I have this all wrong? Thanks

were there four wires going into the harness before you cut the harness off?

i could be wrong but it would seem that in addition to grounding the green wire you should ground the braid as well
