I ordered a Classic Custom in january. The shop told me i was getting it in april. Sent an email in april, they told me i was getting it in may, sent an email again then so on and so on... The shop has talked with gibson all the way, and in july the classic custom was backordered for some reason?
So they hoped to get one in august. but yesterday i got an email from the shop. The classic custom is discontinued, we are sorry. So i talked to the shop and i asked if it was a limited version or if it was something wrong with the production, and he said he thought there was something with the production.. So ive almost waited one year for the guitar of my life, just to get nothing. If anyone knows more than me, or know any store who might have this guitar in store, please let me know!

Thanks

Kent

Where did you order it from? I can't believe they couldn't scrape one up for you! Surely you didn't tie up your money all that time?

I spoked to gibson and this is what they said:
"Actually, the guitar model you mentioned was part of the Guitar of The Week Series in 2007 and now is a discontinued model."

Now i dont know what to do.. as in my opinion this was the les paul who really looked cool! This was the guitar that made my choice easy.. I dont know what model to check out now....

Classic Custom? I dont think it was, it was a production model? There was a White version and 3 pickup version that was GOTW, the normal model wasnt...

That's just sad that Gibson has taken it out of production:rolleyes:

IT was a production model, for a short time.............Plus it was a guitar of the week, once maybe twice if I remember correctly.
I almost got one, but made the mistake, er good move of trying a VOS R8 BB the next dayh, and well, I changed my mind and have not really enjoyed any regular series Gibson since. Yes, the VOS Reissues can spoil you that much.

This is not to take anything away from the Classic Custom, it is a righteous axe! Get one if you can, just don't try a reissue on the same day:D

I havent heard anyone mention this is a limited version!! And i dont understand why they would stop the production of the coolest looking guitar they ever made!!
Actually there is only 1 on ebay. the rest is with the p90`s.
Is it possible to change pick ups from p90`s to 57 humbuckers?
Or is the size of the holes different?

Yup, Different routing/holes. You could get some 'buckers in the P90 size though. There are a few options there.

The cavities are too small for full size humbuckers. You would be required to modify the cavities to accept the pup. (I'm almost 100% sure of this) You would have better results trying to find mini-humbuckers off a Deluxe - if that's even an option?

As long as you can get your deposite back, you could check GC, MF, everybody, see if they still have a couple in stock. I use to have the phone # for GC's Kansas City warehouse, I delt with a couple guys there that would actually go and check to see
if they still had certain guitars in stock that werent shown on there computer. (they sold me an SG one time that they were out of) PISSED ME OFF!

Yeah, a one year old classic custom aint worth US $2,549.99 in my opinion.
And if there is one guitar on earth i really liked to buy new i think it has to be this one..
But ill call some stores to see if there might be some leftovers out there..:fingersx:

Hi, i'm also getting the Classic Custom. I have found one in stock here in Sweden! It's alot of money, but i'm considering buying it tomorrow!! I'll think this guitarr is going to hold it's value through the years, because it's not for sale from Gibson anymore.. what do you think about that?

I'm telling you, the guy on Craigs list has had this up for a few months now. You could probably offer him $2100 and get it.

Get it. They are great guitars. I almost got one but fell for an R9 instead.
