What do you use them for?

I mostly use my phone for Internet surfing. Other uses are eBay and travel apps, email, games, calculator, and even a flashlight app. Truth is, I hate the phone part of it: calls, messages. :laugh2:

My current phone call plan should give me as little as fifty minutes to call and still I don't even use half of it, I used to have an unlimited call plan that drained my bank account every month.:Ohno:

What's the main use you give your cellphone?

I use it as a phone. More convenient than a land line.

I do not own a smart phone. So, my only use is to make phone calls. Between me and my wife, on a shared plan, we use maybe 20 minutes a month. We are allowed 700, and that is the cheapest plan offered. What is there to talk about?

I have a computer for my internet needs. I would not know an app if it bit me in the face. I am amaze at what smart phones can do, but I prefer to live in the natural world. Give me a road map. I do not play games (never did). I have a calculator and a flashlight. I would not EVER listen to music through a cell phone! (I have a $10,000 stereo) I walk with my head up and scanning the world around me.

Calls and texts. Occasionally surf the web, and a lot of eBay stuff.

Being 16 years old and not having a job makes it very hard to have a cell phone, and unlike my peers, my parents won't pay for my bill if I were to have a phone.

I use mine for calls and texting 99% of the time.

I occasionally use it to check my e-mail, if I am away from a computer for an extended period.

I have also used the internet access to get directions, look up phone numbers, and general info, that I need "right now".

But, I would prefer to go back to phones that just let you talk to one another.

Everything but games and apps, until MLP comes out with the app for Andriod...
Almost all my time here is via my phone. :)
I don't have a laptop, and I don't want to be stuck in the room with the computer, so the phone is my internet. And it's way more convenient than a landline.

iPhone

For Communication.

Work, Family, and Friends be it voice, text or email.

We don't have a land line.

I will occasionally surf or post here but rarely.

I've never been any good at video games.

(EDIT)

I do take a TON of pictures with it.

FYI - you CAN take audio out of many phones, fully uncompressed in a digital format, and use the DAC and clock of your choice before going analog to your preamp/stereo. Maybe you are a strictly phonograph guy, which I can definitely respect, but if you also enjoy CDs and/or DVD-A discs then, we're talking about more than double the maximum quality of the digital audio encoded on either of those formats.

Even an iPhone can stream 24bit 48kHz WAV and AIFF files. I've never tried 96kHz or higher, but I don't see why it's not possible. In the setup I'm suggesting, the phone is simply acting as data storage and letting the higher end equipment handle the conversion and playback.

I hate em'! but a very convient evil. The world survived ok without them before....I blame Capt Kirk and his star trek communicator for this :D

For me, it's just a phone that I choose to answer or not to answer, just like at the house.

Don't use it for games or even communication beyond a very limited group, but it is handy for lots of things. My navigation app works better than any dedicated device that have been in a vehicle with, and that is just the start.
Have carried it for better than two years, and before it nothing. Who'ld a thunk it would become a don't leave home without it item?

I understand. But you can't always carry a calculator, a flashlight, a map, a notebook and many more things with you. I think that's the beauty of the smartphone and that kind of multiple use device.
