@LesPast: yes man! Watching your makeover closely was the final push I needed! Back at the time I didn't have the perfect guitar fo the occasion (you don't want to spend that kind of money if it doesn't bond with you 100%), but then I was able to find one I felt in love with and that also has a little bit of a special story connected to Florian himself.

 looks like I missed a NGD thread here... Pics or it didn't happen!! :run:

I know I know, but I’m kind of shy about my guitars :eek2:

I guess I’ll do a thread once the makeover it’s finished

@Armenfish Yeah you should follow threads like this one closes. I notcied myself that it's so much easier when you already know what you need to prepare for and what thing's Florian will ask you.

@Netwarrior Nice man. I love that flame on yours. What burst color will it get?

@Netwarrior Thanks man, it's really something else. I can only confirm what you wrote. Even with just the Bavarian Makeover one, which basically means no brazzboard and no neck reset, the guitar opened up like crazy and changed so much in good ways only.

@dsquared Hmm I can't even remember those 2 nicks. I'm gonna have to look for some pictures of Red Eye to verify that, thanks.

Florian sent me some pics of the status of the weatherchecking. Looking good but we're not there yet. Just a little bit more.

I know I know, I will do a dedicated thread eventually ;)

It's going to stay close to the original color, which I believe can be defined as a faded golden poppy burst:

Allright guys I've got some really fresh update-pics, just for you. Enjoy some close-up fretboard porn (don't know if that's a thing but who am I to judge).

First off we got a short video where Florian explains the way he rolls the fretboard edges

In order to see the difference we got a little comparison. This was before...

... and this is what the edges and nibs look like after Florian worked on them

He then also polished the frets...

...and oiled the board (which looks all the more stunning now, what a beautiful piece of wood!)

Won't be too long until we see the end-result. The tension is almost unbearable now :Ohno: :hyper: :Ohno:

@LesPauli: Fretboard work looks amazing! Any news on the aging? I can only imagine how impatient you are at the moment!
Tension has starting to build-up on my side too and my guitar isn't ready for finishing yet :)

I don't have any details on the aging itself but the overall makeover is set to be finished by the end of this week. I'm gonna pick it up Thursday next week :D

You really are at the finishing line! I guess that seeing the end of the makeover must be an amazing moment! :cheers2:
I think you'll be missing the updates though. It's easy to develop an addiction for Florian's early morning emails!

I will also be picking the guitar up in person when it is ready. I realized his workshop is only 3h30 drive from me.
Before the makeover I just shipped the guitar in, without even checking where Oberstdorf was exactly located.
This caused me three days of stomach-ache, hoping the guitar didn't get damaged during shipping

Yeah that's true, I've been there before. No updates but in return one of the best guitars you can ever imagine, at least to me it is. I'm just incredibly curious what it will look like when I'm holding her in my hands.
Wow man I can't imagine what that must feel like. I wasn't willing to send the guitar because it can be somewhat complicated when doing so across the borders. Since it's only a 1.5 to 2 hour drive for me it was an easy choice.

That's standard procedure with all my guitars since 1973, taught by a spanish luthier....

It's done. It's really done. Florian sent me the final pics and I'm speechless. It turned out better than I could have ever imagined. I'm gonna write more about it after I picked it up tomorrow. For now I'm mostly just browsing through these pictures over and over again :drool::drool:
