Jerkoffs, all of them. Story goes I totaled my last car a month ago. Walked into the dealer and dropped a boatload of cash on a brand new Santa Fe.

Problem 1: While signing paperwork, found a 1000 dollar mistake. Whether incompetence or underhandedness, it was unacceptable. It was fixed. Moving on....

Problem 2: called 2 weeks after to speak to my salesguy. He was busy with a customer and I was told he'd call back. Never called back. Spoke to sales manager a couple days later and informed of same. Moving on still......

Problem 3: Asked them to TRANSFER a registration from my old plate. After title and transfer, should only cost around 90 bucks total. They called twice for my old plate number and after that, even asked for it via text and I sent it. They got me a new registration and plates. Over 300 bucks. Was told they'd straighten it out in the morning but tried to push me on the phone to take the new plates.

No way, no how am I taking 2 new plates unless THEY pay for them. They said they cant give me another temp (thats a lie, they can issue 2 per car).

Its damn near impossible to get ANYONE to do their jobs anymore.

They would never treat you like that at a Lambo dealer.

You should take my wife with you. She negotiates so hard the guys walk away crying...it takes a lot of trips to find one she can bully just enough that we actually get a car.

She listens to none of their drivel. We walk in she says "I have Cash, I'll pay X amount for this car." They try to work her over, she won't budge. She offers a fair price going in knowing the current sales value.

I stand back, watch and laugh. The last guy told me "Don't worry I'll get her to buy at my price" 30 minutes later he came storming out of the room. NO SALE! She eventually found what she wanted at her price.

We never go car shopping "Needing" a car, gives us time to shop around and go home without one if need be..

And you haven't shown up to the dealership in uniform, yet, why exactly?

Btw, don't confuse incompetence with greed.

Wait until u get to maintenance

You pay them to do what u ask for and when you come back pickup the car it's the same way you left it

They're still a step up from lawyers..

Whenever I go in to buy a car, it's a simple thing.
I do my research regarding costs (licensing, cost of ownership, etc..)
I tell salesman-X what my budget is, what I want, and what I expect.
If he or his manager quibble, I walk, simple as that.

There are enough dealerships in my area that I don't worry overmuch about finding what I'm after, and with the internet, I can damn near order a vehicle to my spec, anyway.

Now...if Subaru would only build a real midsized (think Ford Ranger sized) pickup...

Sounds a bit like my mom

I'm pretty fair. I am willing to pay between the lowest and average market price and if they don't agree with that I just leave and spend my money somewhere else :)

well, that's their heritage as direct descandants of the medieval horse swindler.

I really don't get their attitude. Fool me once........

I like a good partnership. I won't be buying at the cheapest place, but will bring in my ride for maintenence, parts and stuff. Buy a new car every 3 years, so why do they scare me off?

You would think putting down cash on a new car they would at least use the KY stuff.

Cash is not a bargaining tool for buying a car from a dealer.

Using cash cuts into profits they can make by selling you a loan.

There are even stories of sells not happening after attempting to pay with cash.

For sure don't tell them up front you want to use cash.

This.

I always go for a pre-approved loan through my credit union. Then I shop around.

If they don't want to deal with me when I tell 'em I'm not financing through them, then they can suck it and I walk out the door.
(It's happened twice.....the walking part that is.:laugh2:)
