Can you knowledgeable folks confirm this as a true Custom?

While I was wasting time on the old Craigslist today, I found this posting for a Les Paul. The pictures of the headstock and the inlays show it as a Custom. The price and that the seller doesn't know much about the history make it suspect to me. I've asked for more pictures to try and determine what year it may be and confirm with Gibson. What do you folks think by what's provided? Oh, and I can't seem to get it to hotlink from my phone. I'm sorry but I'm at work at the moment and don't have many options. Thanks.

Looks pretty good to my untrained eye. The TRC looks legit. Gold hardware, the headstock looks good, the shape maybe suspect. I don't know, maybe someone will come and say it's a fake. Nice nick though.

Fake.

There are a ton of things screaming "I AM A FAKE!", but the most visible is the binding between headstock and neck. Gibson binding is straight, it does not make any angle.

It's a $600 custom...

That's the ultimate red flag...

If someone is selling a Ferrari for $10k my eyebrows raise...

The price is a disqualification...
Others on MLP know a ton more than me but I'd run for the hills..

If a deal is to good to be true then it normally is

It's a higher standard than usual but fake.
Pickup ring width, dead giveaway.

Cool, thanks guys. I was thinking the same thing. I'm not really in the market for one, I was just wasting some time by looking. From the price and the listing headline, I was expecting to see a Studio, not binding and a Custom diamond. The fact it has no documentation and the price was screaming fake to me, but I thought might as well ask.

Always go for the TRC, that's a dead giveaway. Then all the other stuff pops up. Fake as they come.

Crooked "Gibson" logo and rosewood fretboard on a Custom were the dead giveaways for me.

(That's why I hate rosewood on Customs, it makes me think Chibson first)

Oh well. To be honest these days you find more ebony on chinese guitars than regular customs. But that's another story....;)

Bad custom diamond, headstock lines wrong as well. I see 'they' have figured out the USA bridge posts at least.

Very fake.

Yeah, I'm not interested in it. The price made to "to good to be true", but the bridge posts looked correct and the truss rod cover only had two screws. The white outline on the truss rod cover is pretty much non existant though. That's why I asked the seller for more pictures and posted on here. If it turned out to be the deal of the century, I didn't want to pass it up. I'm not great at spotting the better fakes, but I learn a little more with each post similar to this one. Thanks MLP!!!
