A friend of mine gave me this pickup 6 years ago, along with an old Sound City 4 x 12 cabinet and 4 Altec Lansing Type Diacone Speakers, and some other stuff. He doesn't play, and gave them to me.

The pickup has no baseplate, and has tape around the coil.

What looks like rust on the ends. is paper.

Are those Thick ceramic magnets ?.
The bobbin & screws looks like a old Gibson as well as the tape & cover . Missing a baseplate of it had one .& the hole for the black start wire was not used for the start of the winding like vintage p-90's . maybe a modded vintage p-90 ,that was done decades ago ..i dont know ...

Are there any numbers/letters molded/stamped on the inside of the cover?

okay, the keeper bar is missing too. the black/white hook up wire can lead to a late 50/early60ies Gibson, the bobbin and the paper tape on the coil goes along with that. but i am completely lost on the paper on the magnets and the magnet dimensions - too thick and to shallow for a standard Gibson magnet.
