I’m curious how aware of this the local law enforcement was in Indiana. You’d think that there would have to be some local jurisdiction involved. If it’s a crime deal then with interstate fraud, I’m now lawyer but I thought that made it Federal, like online/mail fraud?

If an out of state police officer showed up at my door for something like that, I can say I would not answer tha door. I wouldn’t resist, but I wouldn’t give permission for the search and would call my local police immediately and find out WTF was going on. Let them break down the door. What a mess.

Obviously cronyism, if the CA sheriff knows the plaintiff. This is odd enough to make the news which time me tells me the car maker probably has a counter suit and should look to get a pay day from the CA County police department for harassment.
