hello, this is my first post :D

recently im thinking of upgrade my edwards lp to a gibson one. (cuz i made some money from betting)

i saw a cream colour 68 Custim authentic made in 2005 and decided shes the one. She got dual burstbucker 2 installed.

since the guitar is located oversea , i could not hv a try on it.

however, is it a fair combination for modern metal like trivium? i have a set of 59 jb to change.

or would it be considered a waste for such a vintage spec lp?

thx ya all hv a nice day:dude:

The story on the burstbucker is this. The 1,2, and 3 are all alnico II mags, the 1 is for the neck, the 2 is for both positions, and the 3 is slightly overwound to go hot in the bridge position. They were originaly made to emulate the old PAF's which was a good allrounder pup.
The '59 and jb are good aftermarket pups. The jb has an alnico 5 mag with an output of about 16K (that's a lot). It's hot and what you've got to remember about it is it was originaly designed to use with a 250K pot, not a lester 500K. But it still will work with both. The trick to that is to use a two stage pot, simple.
The '59 is like a PAF again. Alnico 5 mag but an output of about 7K. Good for the neck position. Very clear pup, no mud.
For the type of metal you'll be playing, my money's on the jb '59 combo instead of the bursts. More versatile and hotter when needed.
Best of luck with the upgrade mate.

My main les Paul has a burst bucker 1&2 in it and I play metal. It sound phenomenal. Most of the metal stuff I write is in drop d, heavy, chugga chugga type stuff. Not speed or thrash.

I have a 57classics (similar output and alnico 2) in my SG and as long as i turn the gain up on the amp, it can get le chuggy chug chug.

I agree with preamp, I think the 59/jb will be a better combo for your particular application.
