Mmmm...that is nice!!

It looks like a RLG 50. As it doesn't show the back of the pup's the black wire suggests its attached to a VH4, perhaps a email to him might clear that up.

Ive tried looking around the Japanaxe and Tokai forums but had no joy. Ive seen a thread on one of those where 'JapanStrat' (If I remember rightly..) gives a tutorial on short and long tenons and pickup routing and the factories that did so. I've read that Tokai made Burnys up until 1982 and made them again late 80's and into the 90's. Current Burny RLG 105 and 115 are made by Tokai.

It also says on the ebay ad that the TRC has been changed. It looks like it has been changed to a early 1970's to 1987 bell shaped TRC. So I guess it must be a 1990 - 1996 model as the 'model' by the G tuning peg is 'Normal script' opposed to the 1988/89 'Low script' model which is 1cm lower.

Cheers

What I meant is, I dunno how good VH4's are. Wound pretty hot, IIRC.

Wow. 90's issue Burny. Still a fine lookin' guitar for the money.

I just wanted to inform any potential buyers here it may not be a Tokai built. Tokai's should have two square rout holes on either side of the neck cavity, according to a Burny expert member, here.

I'll look for a post link ...

Note the big ol' square rout's on either side of the cavity, (but the tenon on the ebay Burny is a dead nuts copy of a Tokai tenon.) ???????

Tonebone, Yeah, I noticed that wasn't a Tokai made Burny the first time it was listed. I was kinda surprised, the seller probably just made an honest mistake. He sells and post alot on the Tokai forums. That RLG-90 you posted is axactly like my 2003 Burny, with the square routes. I think 78'79' Burny's are made by tokai. 80'-81' Terada made. Most of the 82'-90's ones are Matsomoku made with some Fujigen, IIRC most of the fujigen ones don't have fret edge binding and have a long tenon? Most of the Matsomku ones have like a trans-tenon but, do have fret-edge binding.
